My bet would be on Anthropic or Meta winning the AI race. Anthropic because their investment in tools for understanding/debugging AI. Meta because free/open source.

No, I mean when out for dinner or drinks. There used to be several taxi ranks on the streets with restaurants/bars/nightclubs, now there are none. The airport is the only place left that still has a taxi rank, and it doesn't

Ruby is my go-to language for automation scripts, it just makes it so easy. For web apps I use Crystal, and have started to try Elixir.

Where I live the ridesharing/delivering startups didn't bring goodies, they just made everything worse. They destroyed the Taxi industry, I used to be able to just walk out to the taxi rank and get in the first taxi, but not anymo

Samsung did make a camera with most of those features (it was before 5G, so 3G I think). I had it, it sucked a lot. Turns out physical buttons for most things is very important if you want to be able to rapidly change settings as required f

Based on the number of guys who think LinkedIn is a dating site I don't see why there wouldn't be people who think it's a porn sharing site.

I am not opposed to paid languages, but my expectations for a paid product is much higher than a free one. A lot of things I am perfectly fine with from a free language would be unacceptable from a paid one.

Their self hosted offering was really good some time ago. I feel like the peak was just after they added CI. Then it got bloated. If you are trying to introduce source control to a traditional org that haven't been using it ever, then

Good thing I am not an American, don't live in the US and have no intentions of visiting then. (I gave you an upvote, I don't think your comment deserve to be nuked for bringing up a possible legal risk)

If you build your scraper to find data on the page based on the shape of the data itself instead of the structure of the page then it will be resilient to most changes that don't materially change what data is displayed on the page. So

I used to not bother with APIs and instead use selenium to drive the websites. It neatly avoided all of the politics around API access.

There are already projects that does JS-to-WASM by bundling a JS interpreter. So, it's likely to make the difference to those clearer.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet is pretty good at working with small/isolated pieces of code (think single file). But it's not fast. I did manage to get it to make a full feature by itself, but it took an entire evening of copy pasting code

Android development is definitely insane. Just the process for getting a dev environment setup is stupidly complicated compared to almost anything else.

Nvidia has historically given zero fucks about the opinions of their partners. So my guess is it's to do with LLMs. They are all in on AI, and having more of their code be part of training sets could make tools like ChatGPT/Claude

I can pull out my decade old Sony and it absolutely beats a new iPhone on image quality. Zero contest. Phone images only look ok because they are mostly viewed on a small screen.

Their cameras weren’t actually all that good at being cameras. Having used one it was a frustrating experience of constantly missing shots because of how slow it was to turn on. In comparison Sony was near instant.

sure, but the Google Takeout process is too complicated for the average gamer. These days with most platforms managing cloud saves for you most people have lost the skill of handling actual save files if they ever learned it to begin with.

Guess it depends on upon what you do. I mostly make crud endpoints, so I can remember most of what I need. And for the times when I can't I prefer to view the API docs in a browser.
