The real practical solutions are trivial, the politics are not. It's a collective action problem, where the US is one of the actors.

I can think of so many counterexamples on the spot: Latin, Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese syllabaries. It's really only the Greek Kappa that is spiky.

Linux compatibility isn't what it used to be. AMD and Intel support Linux as a first class platform, and everything CPU and GPU from them will work perfectly. Nvidia is on track to match them, albeit on proprietary drivers, if you use

I bought a Lenovo laptop a couple of years ago and returned it immediately because it was bizarrely loud and stopped recognizing half of its ram capacity. I got an equivalent HP for a little more, and I've had much less complaints.

ChatControl is exactly what Apple did. It's client-side, so no one is able to see your messages. The police sees if content hashes match known CSAM.

A just, healthy society would target and remove those who enrich themselves at the expense of others. The continued existence of society rests upon cooperation beating defection. The exponential rise of legal gambling in the western world i

I do really like Plato for its superior performance and design, but it's lacking in features and documentation at this stage. KOReader feels like a flimsy hack written in lua, mainly because it is, but it does support SSH, two columns,

I've switched to exclusively using SSH on my Kobo, because I find it less effortful. The connection procedure consists of enabling wifi on the Kobo and clicking on the sftp bookmark in my file browser.

I'm probably not the best person to ask, since the last time I touched Powershell, it was Windows only, but I'd say nushell is likely a lot more platform-agnostic, has sane syntax and follows a functional paradigm. Plugins are wri

Where are you getting that from? On Steam, the offline title with the highest concurrent player count is Civ 6 on place 18, with 1/30 the amount of players of CS:GO. On Twitch, Minecraft, which almost all streamers seem to be playing o

The strategy is to start out with a couple of horse javelineers, send them to hunt game until you have at least 5 and then get raid other players' women. Remember to always queue women in groups of 2-4 and get the first berry upgrade a

I thought the original MW was a bit bland. I honestly only remember Black Ops well, and I would defend it as the only game of the series that would do well as a piece of fiction writing on it's own.

Isn't that one of the main plot points in Call of Duty: Black Ops? Not to spoil the game, but there is a mission on that base and what they discover is of huge importance. One of the best video games in terms of story telling.

The western european armies all massively downsized. The West-German Bundeswehr had around 500K soldiers and almost 3000 tanks until the end of the cold war. Currently, the - notably united - German Bundeswehr employs around 180k soldiers a
