At the company I worked at we had robots roam hotels and take elevators -- essentially moving Faraday cages. Unsurprisingly, network was always an issue, which meant that, of course, we made the robots able to work completely offline.

Sounds cool. Too bad you can't see what it looks like without first going through the process of getting a driving pass. Would be nice if one could just easily watch others live-joysticking the robots first.

Thanks, Sean! To me WebRTC is one of these technologies which seem super hard and complicated at first, but once you get it you can't believe you were ever able to live (or in this case work) without it. My favorite example for this is

I asked it to draw a star and what it produced was open-loop code like this: "forward(50); time.sleep(2); set_dir_servo_angle(35); time.sleep(1); forward(50)..." This doesn't work and shows a great degree of naiveté! Odometry

Why does it have to be Boston Dynamic? There are lots of robot dogs out there now. I also agree with all the good points made by others already about low gravity (these dogs took a long time to get trained well against Earth's gravity,

What a stupid stunt! As if those wanna-be-human-looking robots were anyhow representative, and as if their "thoughts" mattered or had even anything to do with robots. Clearly, at best their answers are generated from GPT, and what

Agreed. Less than 100 lines of code definitely has it's advantages, esp. for people who want to fork and extend it.
