Yeah, I'm aware. PUP and Clive Palmer went from being the punchline of the Chaser boys' jokes to something seriously wrong in a very short period of time.

I interviewed some Chinese speaking programmers in preparation for my Kiwi Pycon talk, and I found that it's the same with them. It's just meaningless symbols to them, and it might as well be triangles and circles.

Funny because the first picture showed a Bundy root beer. Bundy claims to use real sassafras roots to make their root beer (and I personally quite enjoy it). Not sure about the safrole content though. Will check it out at lunch

Come up with something that can represent every number then? IEEE754 may be a pain in the ass, but dumb is not a word I'd use to describe it

Great job Josh. I wrote a version of this too[0], but yours is much much better and in depth. I enjoyed it a lot more too :) [0] http://blog.chewxy.com/2014/02/24/what-every-javascript-deve...

I run eyemap.io and in our early stage testing (about 30 people played with it so far), yes, generally that's the case, though pictures draw peoples' attentions more. Especially if they're of faces.

Optional typing is pretty interesting, IMO. I'm not sure if that is a killer feature for programmers who are used to JS dev tho

I wouldn't put it as such. They're all one-offs. But consider how fast gcc started supporting x86_64. I am not worried about the supply of people who do systems programming

I'm placing my bet that there will always be people who are interested in systems programming. They're the Night Watch ( http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/people/mickens/thenightw... ) There will al

I have an Ergohuman. YMMV, but when I tried a standing desk, I ended up with backpain around my kidney area/lower lumbar region, so I went back to sitting. So I finally put down some money for an Ergohuman and no complaints since then
