Anyone can visit, but staying here means having a job. The migration to the Bay Area is because cities approved the construction of so many office buildings (and continue to do so).

AWS: proprietary APIs implemented by one vendor K8S: many vendors collaborating on a API they all implement I'd call kubernetes the emerging standard.

I'm not talking about legal rights. Surely they've managed the contributor agreement to make this option possible. However, they also built a community around open source software and there's more to that relationship than le

I only worked with the Akka ecosystem a little, but if I had made a major career or business investment in it I'd be pretty unhappy about this. There's nothing wrong with closed source software and I want the authors to make money

Very different choice of topics compared to Kubernetes: Up and Running. The table of contents is almost entirely focused on the details of how pods work. I'll wait for some reviews on whether the depth matches the focus. Edit: The revi

There are stories of Venmo transfers that do not include ACH (ie the source of funds is a venmo balance) being difficult or impossible to reverse. That's purely a product choice by Paypal.

Transfers within Venmo fake immediacy. If it depends on an ACH transfer (ie the money is coming from a bank account and not an existing Venmo balance) then the money will be taken back if the ACH fails. It's transfers between Venmo and

That looks cool. If there was a tool to generate bindings to go libs I'd use it in my current side project.

What do you think drilling rigs, pipeline leaks, and carbon emissions are doing right now? The impact on nature by renewables is dramatically lower. But your comment focuses on what's visible so no, I'm not put off by that. Wind t

We're talking about whether Putin's character was something a country like Germany could bank its energy policy on starting in the 2010s. That's not a question of international law, of US policy in 1999, or US actions in Iraq

In a world with stable rents, renters also become long term residents and invested in the community. If someone’s only “invested” financially I doubt that they have the community’s interests at heart.
