I bought an HP Elitebook, it was quite pricey, about $3500 but I figured it will be reliable at least. So far the keyboard broke, the screen broke, the motherboard broke (the USB-C connector was loose) all in less than a year. Since replaci

Slavery was how it's always been until it stopped being how it's always been. Saying something is how it is is not a reason why it should be the way it is. If you want to support it, you actually have to make an argument for it.

And the doomsday clock is not a measure of violence, safety or self-destruction. It is a measure of the opinion of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.

Not sure how the link supports your claim. The question was not "is the doomsday clock moving closer to midnight" and safety is non synonymous with time on the doomsday clock. And it really just detracts from a well written and re

I think the point of wine is to have a Windows "runtime" that is open source and works on linux. But I would gladly pay Microsoft to have a wine like thing that supports a broader range of software better, because I prefer Linux t

SPARQL works on any RDF data, so if you have a bunch of RDF data in RDF files you can use jena's command line utilities to query it. RDF is a technology for encoding semantic tripple graphs, basically a set of {object_id}-{property_id}

You can easily make this with OWL, RDF and SPARQL (i.e. Semantic Web Technology). There may actually already be ontologies in OWL to express something like this in which case all you need is the actual data, but that may also already exist.

Yeah that is fair, .net is actually not really that bad these days with .net core and mono. Microsoft is making an effort which is paying off and I can fault them for many things but not really that so much.

I actually tried it with snap on fedora some time ago (maybe a year or two) and it did not work. I guess snap is cross platform as long as the platform is ubuntu, kind of like .net in that.
