React came out last year. Thanks for the compliment of thinking it's been longer than it actually is =)

I tried to make a reasonable trade off by making the flappy bird side way easier. Or else it gets frustrating to be punished after each few keystrokes =)

Not sure what you mean by between Scheme and CL, but if there's one Lisp that'll catch on to today's practical needs, it's probably Clojure (and ClojureScript).

React contributor here. The bit about removing event handling abstraction doesn't make much sense. 1. Since React's event handling is also virtual (just like its DOM), cross-browser inconsistencies are taken care of for you. Sure,

There's no two-way binding in React, so right off the bat you get to drop that synchronization code. Check out the examples on the front page; they cover 80% of React's API. http://facebook.github.io/react/

Input fields are typical DOM elements and are of course not overlooked. It's rather trivial to implement your own <MyTextArea /> component which keeps track of cursor position, etc. In fact, that's actually what React d

React user here. Some comments seem to suggest that React doesn't play well with other libraries; it's really the opposite. Here's a React Chosen component in 25 lines of code: https://github.com/chenglou/

I use and contribute to React. By far the simplest (and I mean simpler than backbone) and cleanest js framework I've used. It's also used by Facebook, Instagram's whole website and Khan academy. Scalability is not a worry at

How ironic that you mention WebCT, because that's what McGill in the article uses until very recently.

Does anyone know to what extend the new yield operator replaces the need for promises? Can it be used for most of promises' purposes or do the latters have their particularly nice use cases? It's still confusing after a while.

Seems like a reaction to yesterday's Google post. Does anyone know how interviews at Apple and Facebook are like? There are often praises of Microsoft's interview procedures and bash on Google's on HN. Wondering what these tw

Does anyone know if ES6's `yield` operator can potentially satisfy most of the goal of promises? It's still confusing after a while.

It's an inconvenience for a (in my opinion) tiny problem. The pros far outweight the cons. I expected someone asking about scrolling an arbitrary amount. After all these years of reading internet articles and pdf manuals on Mac/iO

Am I the only one who really appreciate OS X's disappearing scroll bar? Leaves the content alone and works well for overflowing divs on pages. And if you really want to take a peak at where you are, just… you know, two finger touch the

It's not that refreshing. There are dozen of different pull to refresh animations across OSes. Check out Path's droplet, Facebook's simpler allow, Mailbox's no spinner at all (just an indication on the status bar), etc.

React reduces manual interaction with DOM (which is slow) by calculating the diff between your new render call and the previous one. Imagine building a webapp where each time you need to update the view, you just lazily refresh the whole UI

Correctly me if I'm wrong but, even if mutation is neglected, isn't shift() an O(n) operation because of array reindexing? Doesn't that completely defeat the purpose of the while/do while loop since they'd be O(n^2)
