Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't this essentially just coroutines? In Lua you can do `myFile = coroutine.yield("get a file")` to pause your coroutine, and when the caller does `coroutine.resume(someFile)` it's

Nothing-burger ad piece. It's widely known that Tor was created by the U.S. Naval Research Lab and gets funding by various government arms, because allowing citizens in oppressive regimes unfettered access to the Internet is good for U

Has anyone used Carp? What is your experience with it? I looked at it a few times over the years and the domain (statically typed language with Rust-esque lifetimes for no GC) is exactly what I've wanted a few times, but there isn'

Yes. I made a post 3 months ago with my resume, and was contacted if I was interested in a position. I just started at the job last week.

Not really. You potentially don't know who is "resuming", and so don't know what registers they will clobber. It would only be a "downside" if 1) your code uses a register 2) no other possible green threads do,

I'm surprised to hear about this. USDS is paraded around as one of the poster childs of how to pair tech with the public sector and effective government work. Are there any posts about how they failed with VA benefits?

I think it was a joke. The way the quote was worded makes it sound like the Earth is curving upwards - if you shoot straight to the horizon you'll hit air, not the ground.

This checklist is pretty disappointing. It's a lot of pretty empty platitudes, with no actionable info on what to actually do. Telling politicians to install updates and enable OS security features (which ones! what OS! is XP still o

Some people at CERN made a smartwatch for a colleague's retirement a number of years ago. Their entire project is FOSS, complete with a talk at FOSDEM 2015. It's not quite a tutorial or walk through, might be interesting for you.

I did a MAL implementation too, and am currently working on an LLVM compiler, but dear god I'd never frame it as "spent x years learning to make a compiler". MAL is easy, and straightforward - I'm not saying this to deva

You can trivially dump your module to a file with the actual LLVM API using `LLVMPrintModuleToFile`, even if the module is in the middle of being built. It's easier to emit human-readable LLVM IR if you're just playing around (or

Yup. IDA Pro is the gold standard, and was basically the only choice for a long time. It's also stupidly expensive and priced for defense contractor funny money, with an individual license nearly $3000 [0]. Most freelancers just use

Every single C compiler worth mentioning will turn a switch statement into a jump table. The difference between a jump table and computed goto is only that one is `jmp [ecx+eax 8]` and the other is `mov edx, [ecx+eax 8]; jmp edx`. The later
