This is exactly the approach described in: http://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007%2F978-3-642-36973-5... This is not new or not previously known. Sensational title.

"Open source laptop"? Physical objects don't have a source, either open or close. It is rather a laptop capable of running on only "free software" for full functionality.

Prezi deserves to be boycotted for cheating Shubham out of his bounty based on stupid "out of scope" excuse. If cracking an internal service is possible, a bug exploiting it should be within scope of any bounty program.

Though, it might not be transmitting all the time when off. Imagine a schedule when a switched off phone transmits once a day, at a random time. Although it is not impossible to record such transmissions, it isn't quite simple.

As long as we have non free software running on their phones, it would be hard to believe the claim as is.

If losing this output is such a problem and force pushing is so rare, then Github could email this output with the two hashes to every developer on every force push.

If the few pieces of hardware drivers, that still remain proprietary, are reverse engineered, then everything will be fine for a sustained prominence of Replicant/Free Android.

From the title, it almost sounds as if their software is going to be free software. Just giving out proprietary software without charge doesn't make them free (free as in freedom for users).

I really hope Pidgin/Audium leverages the source code, or someone else does it and makes a Pidgin plugin. The native Skype client on Linux crashes quite a bit.
