Just out of curiosity, how much faster is gsh than busybox? I believe that busybox is produced by the Windows cross-compiler that I have loaded from EPEL. Can gsh be built the same way?

Suprisingly, POSIX has recently adopted the find -print0 | xargs -0 idiom, so the gears do turn, but very slowly . The latest standards for POSIX.2 utilities are here: https://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/9799919799

The easiest way to get POSIX and bash ish scripts working on Windows is the busybox port: https://frippery.org/busybox/index.html This is actually the Almquist shell with many bashisms brought in (no arrays though).

Employers in the U.S. are expecting to see domestic IP addresses. A laptop farm hosts the corporate laptop (domestically) that is sent to the remote worker. Hardware is provided to work the power remotely, along with all other functions. h

What is clear to everyone is that ARM survived and SPARC did not. Sun ownership would not have guaranteed survival, as management did many foolish things, but it would have upped the odds.

Then how do you explain StrongARM? Why would DEC indulge in an also-ran? Ken Olsen's folly? Or is 1996 far too late? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StrongARM

I never used it, but the first UNIX port for ARM was called RISC iX and it was introduced in 1988. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RISC_iX In retrospect, if Sun had acquired Acorn, they might still be around.

DEC spent an enormous amount of money on an emitter-coupled logic (ECL) bipolar implementation as the VAX 9000. They came to discover that the MicroVAX hit ~70% of the performance at a fraction of the cost. That was an expensive dead end. &
