Another project I've been following in this space (no affiliation) is Tangram ( https://www.tangram.dev/ ), which I think of as "Nix, but TypeScript" -- or, from their Discord: > Tangram takes a lot of inspi

The difference to me is that Depot is giving you what is effectively a dedicated build machine. That machine can take advantage of local BuildKit caching. With Cloud Build, you need to use —-cache-from and other amendments to leverage remot

This feels a bit harsh. The question isn't whether V8 is a stronger security boundary than a hypervisor, it's whether Cloudflare's use of V8 demands process isolation. And the "confused HN thread" is Kenton Varda de

The "shapes of data" thing resonates a lot especially coming from TypeScript. The runtime validation stuff has been interesting to watch. Do you use Pydantic? It's very popular but I have a hard time getting over its willingn

I actually agree with this. And I like your second point around LOC as a yellow-flag around poor domain understanding. I tried to acknowledge the deficiencies in LOC in the second paragraph... but it felt like a useful shorthand for conveyi
