The only thing dynamic going on there is the type system, unless myfunc is recursive. Dynamic programing uses memoization to achieve lower computational complexity, but memoization != dynamic programming.

I would name my next son Simon if one of those two would implement optional backtracking in the type checker, so that it would try all of the definitions of e.g., map, foldr, filter, and succeed if there is exactly one assignment of types t

Early-career research positions for cleared PhDs at gov't labs pay much, much more than the equivalent positions at universities (post-doc, lecturer, etc.) and still allow you to publish.

To be sure, those interchanges are the most pleasant to drive through, but at a cost of land. The interchange design presented in the NPR article is much more feasible in urban centers where you might be constrained by existing structures.

Start buying up student loan debt and pooling them into Student Loan Backed Securities (SLBS). Tranche and rate them based on US News & World Report school rankings, sell these CDOs to wealthy institutional investors worldwide, then hav

You could cure a lot of cancer for $1 trillion. By turning the offer down, are you sure you're not "influencing" someone else's mortality? (That's a rhetorical question, of course. I don't have an answer.)

Herd immunity? That's a pretty bad metaphor. There is not "safety in numbers" on the Mac. Safety comes from their lack of numbers. Unless you meant to imply that Macs are like the kids at school whose dipshit parents don't vaccinate them.

Sitting in one of these (goofy, overpriced) chairs does not involve tensing any muscles other than those used for balance, which don't really get tired, so that's probably the worst analogy on the internet today. These chairs are meant to r

We decide X is twice as big as Y when X = 2Y. This is not up for debate. And re. net worth: That's exactly how I would plot it if I wanted to make a point about income inequality. Carlos Slim is worth US$53 billion. The per capita income

You make a good point about temperature, but I stand by my critique because temperature is a quantity and these graphs are all plotting percentages, which should always been graphed from 0% to 100%. If your percentages are all within the ra

WTF is the point of a graph if you have to read the fine print to avoid misinterpreting it? Why not just use a table? A graph is supposed to convey the relative magnitudes of the data points, not just their ranking. If I just wanted to show
