I'm not as interested in the social aspect, but oh my god have I been waiting for a recommendation engine for video games for a looooong time. It's especially a problem if you're running on an underpowered rig, where playing

They test this across the street from my office. Pretty crazy when you actually see it sprint the length of a football field, turn around and run the length again. Then again, it's also pretty funny when it faceplants and one of the en

There's a difference between a closed plugin and a closed browser. Let the DRM content stay in their plugins in their paywalled sites, while the web in general remains open and benefits from the creativity and innovation that flows fro

I think that many people are drastically underestimating the effect this may have on the open web. The response "oh, well we'll just build a browser that will avoid the DRM" isn't going to work quite as well as one might

It's a little disappointing that Techcrunch doesn't mention any of the controversy / dark pattern-ness of their subscription model, except in passing.

I'm pretty sure there's the same distinction today, where a ~$500 console is more graphically powerful than a ~$500 general-purpose computer. I don't think that you're going to see that price point move very much 'i

@gknoy It's just frustrating from a personal perspective... I mean, taking 6 years off to work on hats? It feels like heckling from the sidelines, but if Valve is truly great they'll find a way to, you know, make a great game agai

Back to the halcyon days of yore, when a single copy of Starcraft was all you needed for a great night of LAN gaming for a number of people. Allowing 'spawned' copies for friends to share for gaming would make co-op games so much

This shouldn't really be that much of a surprise. To me, Netflix has always seemed to be halfway between purchasing a series and pirating it. It'd be interesting to see someone crunch the numbers and see if releasing a series on N
