Haha, these posts do look very similar. I have been hosting img42 off a $5 a mo/ droplet :P. It has served XXm+ impressions, and 1m uploads since its creation. I also have been sustaining a ~3m a day DDOS from Russia for about a year n

Costs haven't been that bad, I have floated it since 2012 (only around 1M images have been uploaded). But I have some scalable plans if it were to take off without breaking the bank.

You can change the image lifespan to forever. The site has been around since 2012, and images are still up.

CloudFlare is a perfect companion for something like this because you can hard cache the redirects on their edges. I have a few services that run off tiny boxes, and just leverage CloudFlare free edge caching.

I have used services like 2captcha.com, to get solving costs down to $0.5-$1 per 1000 solved captchas. Googles reCAPTCHA is hardly an effective solution... Also if google wanted to they could just automatically verify people without you cli

Dirty stuff, this still wont allow you to load modules that use unsafe-eval, on pages with strict CORS policies. Biggest road-block was a communication channel between the `content_script`, and the actual scope of the page (this was initial

You can also use something like DigitalOcean + CloudFlare Edge caching, and still be able to use a DB. At the end of your day your content is already being stored in a database or in some custom format to be able to generate the static site

I really don't understand the appeal of these static site generators. Why don't people just toss something like CloudFlare in front of their dynamic sites and turn the edge caching up. I mean this is free, the bandwidth expenses a
