Unclear what the perception of HBO is outside the US, but HBO is historically _the_ prestige television brand, and now they have a pretty good catalog of stuff that wasn't originally on HBO as well. It seems like Warner is hell-bent on

I agree with you, but don't underestimate how many people just want to leave The Office or something similar running in the background for hours and are willing to pay Netflix for that.

This is the kind of shenanigan that happens when you use an OS that literally has third party advertisements in its start menu

Depends on what you're doing. Everyone uses the word "website" like it's just one type of thing. You DON'T need JavaScript for a website that has no interactability, like a personal blog with no comments or reaction

This is perhaps a controversial opinion, but I don't think that you need this at all to do programming. This is just syntactic sugar! Type some parentheses and move on.

JavaScript isn't that kind of programming language. I don't know why people are constantly trying to make it something else.

They still could be. Just not now.

That's what I mean I guess: the only reason to get the apple one is as part of their ecosystem. It's surprising to me to see someone who seems to be choosing it for the UX.

I don't think it's this person's fault or that they should have seen it coming but I am curious why someone with no other apple devices would buy what I consider to be a secondary apple accessory. I just assumed (and I guess

It's a fun watch but as an adult watching it you definitely notice a lot that could have been done better. The first hour or so is kind of a go-nowhere time waster relative to the main plot.

This is the way. Or if you REALLY want a regex for an input, /[^\s]+@[^\s]+/ seems as sure as you can get without excluding a valid address somewhere. At least one non-whitespace character followed by an @ followed by at least one

Film is vulnerable, but at least the CEO of a streaming service can't just capriciously decide to delete it. Also servers are just as vulnerable to fire, earthquake, sabotage, etc.

Most New Yorkers pay a full-time minimum wage salary in rent every year (or more). It used to be unsustainable for the working class here, now it's unsustainable for anyone but the very rich here. And it's 100% down to real estate

Bear in mind that the world has been really ratcheting up the "everything's fucked" factor for the last several years. This might not be "I'm 40", it might be "I'm dealing with living in the current s

I used to put a lot of effort into trying to sync dot files. And you know what? I don't see a reason to do it. I only have one work computer and one personal computer.

It's fun to ask ChatGPT for relatively simple stuff and it just confidently gives you broken crap back. For example, "write me an html file that contains a simple Preact app that calculates a tip" will get you back something

Teams work in cycles. This would mean, for example, that a monthly/quarterly retro with the whole team is now not allowed. That's bad.

Call me crazy but I would like to occasionally talk to and see the faces of my teammates in real time. We're not robots in factories. We're humans. I love remote work but a workplace is different from, say, an Internet forum.
