And if you don't like Python, you usually don't have to touch it. The tasks you run on the server can be any kind of executable. They read some JSON from stdin, do their action and write some JSON to stdout. Whether that program i

This is exactly why we're working on TasteApp[0] which is going to give frameworks a better chance to show of their strengths in medium-sized projects. [0] https://github.com/tastejs/tasteapp

I'm happy to see they open-sourced it. I always was wondering how the framework could look like that produces code like on the instagram.com webapp and Facebook. Especially since instagram.com is still pretty new and would not suffer from

I fully agree with that. Trusting crypto in a closed-source product is something I'm not comfortable with. That said, I'm using btsync just for syncing unimportant files across clients within my local network and it's working really great.

Bummer. I hadn't had a chance yet to try it on an old device yet as my HTC Desire died recently. But older pre-Chromium versions of Opera ran quite smoothly on it.

My personal favorite feature in Opera for Android is that it's available for Android 2.3 and up. That means you can get a modern and secure(!) browser on old or low-end phones that otherwise would never get a modern browser.

I don't see that limit anymore. Have they updated the page? Especially with 200MB limit per photo this seems really odd.

I don't see how docker fits in there. Don't get me wrong, it's a great piece of technology, but it's very platform-specific and has nothing to do with the web as a platform in its current state.

What exactly do you mean by HTML5-based? The term is way too loose to make assumption about the effort or price. Do you mean using new APIs? Just changing the doctype and removing some slashes?

Yeah, this sucks, but why is this the top comment? This is just some uninteresting nitpick about the implementation and adds nothing to the topic that is covered here. This is a brilliant proof of concept and who gives two shits which bro

That's great to hear. One particular example which I found needlessly strict is this: The request MUST contain a Content-Type header whose value is application/json. It MUST also include application/json as the only or highes

This sounds to me as if you're not really in search of a loosely coupled hypermedia API schema, but an RPC mechanism.

I read a lot of RFCs and drafts for media types lately and what strikes me reading this spec is the very liberal use of MUST which seems to me like an unnecessary violation of the robustness principle, that Jon Postel introduced first in RF

I like seeing mongrel2 as part of this stack. It seems like the perfect fit for an architecture like this and I get the feeling that's it's heavily underused.
