The one thing I really like about Unity is the ability to switch between the windows with Super + [1-9]. Is there a similar functionality in Gnome 3/Shell?

What is wrong with that? It's a vendor extension, like most new CSS and JS features are implemented. A draft specification for the Speech API exists since last October, if I'm not mistaken. So why would that not work?

All of the information that left the earth as light is still out there, all over the universe. A very poetic point of view. :) As others mentioned in the thread, you don't necessarily travel yourself. If you had a mirror far enough away,

Basically yes, but it would still require a lot of customization to have a similar experience to that of Dropbox.

I actually like the decision by Amazon to require secure communication. This is something that is very hard to verify as an end user and incredibly important in the days of Firesheep.

That's a very unfortunate development. I remember the several download options and now there's not even an RSS feed anymore.

As the author wrote at the end of the article, instead of removing the GIL once and for all, they will rather add an option to use STM instead of the GIL as compile-time option or maybe even at runtime, as it would not only effect power con

The new blip.tv interface feels unfinished. The HTML5 toggle page[0] is broken since the update and I got no response to my bug report so far. There is no loading indicator for the videos so on first look it seemed like there were no videos

I tried it in a VirtualBox. Runs smoother than the emulator from the Android Development Kit, but still a bit sluggish. I'll give it another try on my netbook.

I've noticed an increase of comment spam on reddit, as well. The spammers there sometimes have quite clever algorithms using phrases of top-voted comments and embedding links in them.

There's a nightly beta for Android that addresses the connection issues. I got an APK from the support some weeks ago and I can confirm that the connection issues have reduced dramatically.

That's an unfair generalization, especially if you're in control of the hardware used. There are some drivers that certainly drain your battery very quickly (I'm looking at you, Broadcom!), but there are other hardware constellations where

In my experience, most extensions work just fine after an update without modifications even if they are marked as incompatible. The addon authors simply tend to set the version compatibility rather conservatively.

Thank you. I've been using Linux for more than 12 years now and it works. Every user got to make its own choice. I tried OS X, Windows and Linux and I will stick with the latter.
