Don’t work overtime for free. It’s that simple. Sure, the occasional late night or weekend is sometimes an unfortunate necessity, but even then your manager should recognise that and let you take some time in lieu. If you are regularly work

I wasn’t trying to claim that Prost was better than Senna. I was disputing the obviously bullshit claim that “when they were on the same team, Senna constantly beat him”. They were both amazing drivers and 88 was fantastic for how tight it

Senna won 50%, Prost won 43%. Senna won the championship by 3 points over Prost. Explain to me how that falls under the definition of “constantly” beat.

Prost was one of Sennas pall bearers. They had a strong rivalry, but there was definite respect, if not outright friendship.

The facts disagree. In 1988, when Senna and Prost were on the same team, Prost won 7 out of 16 races.

I'm talking about the standard things that people do that are common across companies. Absolutely make your USP special. But logging? DB access? Deployment? Those are generally solved problems and unless you have a very good reason not

As a general rule: you (and your company) are not special. If you look at an industry way of doing something and decide it’s wrong, you should have solid reasoning to back it up. I’ve seen so many companies decide that they have some unique

None of what you describe is slave labour. There are people in actual slavery all over the world and there is a world of difference between having a crap job or getting screwed out of money and being a slave. And no, I’ve never worked in ho

It is literally the definition of slave labour: “labour which is coerced and inadequately rewarded” (Oxford) If you are not paid well and you can leave the job then it’s not slave labour, it’s just a crappy job.

Slave labour? I’ve said millions of times that I love exaggeration, but even I think that’s taking it a bit far. Were you paid? Could you leave the job if you wanted? Then it’s not slave labour.

Depends on how far back you want to go. The term "object oriented programming" was coined back in the 60s. Languages like Smalltalk were introduced in the 70s.
