I'd love to learn more. What technologies outside iOS have you used and what do they do better than SwiftUI?

Almost all of those have been solved by Android's PWA implementation. I can go to an enabled site and add it to my apps list. After that, it looks and acts like any other app on the device [except that it doesn't take up any space

For a few years, Amazon had an "Actually Free" campaign that let you play Android games for free with no ads as long as they were installed through Amazon's Appstore. Even that wasn't enough to dethrone Google Play :)

I would understand where you're coming from if Apple allowed apps to mention that other signup methods exist.

One concrete example is Visual Studio App Center[1], which allows companies to distribute internal and beta apps to employees and invited testers. On Android, I can install the App Center app and then browse and install them exactly as I do

Just wanted to say, as someone who's been a fervent Apple fan since 2007, getting a Pixel was the best tech decision I've made in years :)

You could always use Outlook Web App (even installing it as a PWA if desired); it's actually really polished. Disclaimer: Microsoft employee unaffiliated with Outlook/Exchange :)

You're getting downvoted but this is a legitimate response. Epic tried pulling out of Google Play, but due to the number of gates a user has to go through to install an app from outside Play, they ultimately had to add it back.

My guess would be that they make up for it in lots of fees :) Our $6 purchase ended up being ~$25 (following a $150 precharge haha).

Of all the services I've tried in this space, only Postmates lets you request items from businesses they aren't partnered with. This was a huge win once when I needed groceries delivered quickly.

As an American, I saw a lot of notices at the beginning of the pandemic encouraging Americans abroad to return home ASAP. I'd imagine other countries did the same.

I'm in a Georgia Tech Facebook group and this has been a really controversial issue, particularly among international students. They only provided 4-6 weeks notice before reopening, so not only is flying risky, it'll be expensive

Not really a direct answer to your request, but Android 11 will allow you to grant permission to an app once, and will clear permissions for apps you haven't used for a few months: https://developer.android.com/preview&
