I found trying to get vim and clojure working together to be pretty painful. Right now I just use emacs w/ swank clojure, but with evil mode and a config that pretty accurately emulates my vim set up.

I have this installed as it comes with Janus ( https://github.com/carlhuda/janus ), and it's excellent. I tried to get Command-T to work in the past and failed, but this works with no problems, and is incredibly useful.

How does a company being bought for talent work exactly? If I join a company that gets bought, how long am I usually legally obligated to work for the company that bought my current employer?

I don't see what's so wrong with implying that the might not deserve everything they earned, unless you also think people in poverty deserve to be where they are.

Exactly. I never want to work on someone else's terms. I want to be able to travel on a whim. I want to be able to stay up all night and sleep all day. I want to enjoy things that require sunlight more than just two days a week. I just

I bought a domain today, and I ended up having to come up with a bunch of synonyms for what I wanted and using a script to see if any of them were available. I guess I support the entrepreneurial spirit, but at the same time I kind of hope

So is there any real downside to what you mentioned, just incorporating in the US and living somewhere cheap? That's something I had been wanting to ask about, since I'm surprised I haven't heard anything on here about people doing it. If

I just recently commented about this in another thread ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=3841211 ), It makes me really happy to see a company that's doing this. Unfortunately I've just begun learning rails, and am not in the bay area (y

I'm 22 and I told a couple coworkers at lunch that I wish I could do my job part time, and that I'd give up half my salary to just have all that free time back. They thought I was crazy.

I don't think being able to code or do any sort of analysis is particularly valuable. When you read a 50,000+ word book, you're going to see the top 50 words enough times to get them down pretty well. I know I've picked up a lot of words

I remember seeing that there was a project pitched as airbnb for dogs at startup weekend st louis last year, and I thought it was an amazing idea. I guess this isn't those guys, but It's still cool to see the idea taking off.

I'm just getting into web dev, and the amount of choices is rather overwhelming. I know the basics of html, css, javascript, and ruby. I'm trying to decide where I should start devoting my time though if I'd like to move into freelancing,

When I do eventually move to SF / a tech hub, applying for everything is my plan, if I don't find something before moving. I also don't know rails, and I'm just now getting into web technologies, trying to decide what to really dig into (be

I tried using hipmunk the other day, and I liked it but I didn't see any obvious way to filter by time. Just something like eliminated all flights that departed before 7pm. Did I miss something obvious?

I feel the same way, when I hear about this talent shortage, I can't help but assume they mean there are only so many people at the top of stanford/mit's classes.

I went to a pretty low tier university, and watching videos from places like MIT/Stanford just blows my mind. It must be amazing to have gone to a university with good teaching and electives, along side peers who actually cared.
