Many of the "good" universities in general seem more focused on prestige and acceptance rates than they do educating the masses. The Ivies could significantly expand the sizes of their student bodies (and to their credit they do m

If you don't look at those posts (and even flag one as "not interested" when it pops up) they go away pretty quickly.

Apple probably "makes money" on each unit, but I would imagine the development costs of the Vision Pro were astronomical. With that in mind they might not even be recuperating the costs with their sizable margin.

If you only stream your music then the difference is negligible, but Apple Music blends Spotify-like streaming music with your personal library of music you own. It's built off of iTunes in this regard. One perk of this is that you can

Vermont has something sort of like this called Front Porch Forum. It's something I would like to see tried elsewhere.

A lot of the Apple Intelligence stuff seems like a waste of space. But having some personal LLM with context over my phone and life? That sounds pretty cool.

Why couldn't the government just get a warrant and take your local servers? At that point there doesn't seem to be much of a difference with respect to this threat model, at least cloud is convenient.

I'm all for cutting government waste, I think there is probably quite a lot. Here is why I do not like Doge: Doge is using a sledgehammer when they need to be using a scalpel. There's already been so much chaos with things like fe

While people will always need to buy the essentials, I do buy that a deflationary currency could discourage discretionary spending. Maybe people are slightly less likely to splurge on a big purchase or a nice dinner. I don't know what

If you suppose that BTC would be a widely adopted currency, you wouldn't "sell" it, you would simply exchange it for the good or service. But in this case if BTC is deflationary you would still hesitate to spend it. USD is in

Didn't something similar happen with Grindr? It was Chinese owned and sold without nearly as much excitement. Given the inevitable bidding war from multiple interested parties I would be surprised if they couldn't get a fair price

No, but rebellion definitely has to do with why there is a shift towards Xiaohongshu, which is obviously even more Chinese than TikTok ever was.

I would imagine your quality of life is not significantly different with a net worth of 10 billion vs 100 billion, but at that point it's probably more about things like ego.

Not that it makes things any better for the original you, but the copied you would presumably feel and believe themself to be the real you. From their perspective, "you" really are living forever. To proceed with the copying would

I feel bad she was manipulated into being there, but being a fool is not a good excuse for breaking the law. We for some reason decided not to hold the real instigators accountable, which means I'm sure it will happen again.

I've toyed with a couple neobanks and eventually decided the uncertainty and risk was not worth it. I'll gladly stick with Chase and AmEx.

Had the same thing in the Midwest about 8 months ago. Had to call a half dozen offices before one would take me and appointments had to be scheduled long in advance. I had not been to the doctor as an adult either and was quickly surprised

I actually feel the opposite, I quite like the convenience that hotels offer (such as housekeeping, clean sheets) and I've found that unless you are doing longterm stays (1 month+) the prices between hotels and Airbnbs are usually comp

Yeah, I personally don't see any need to maintain a digital book library (like with calibre) when libgen is so accessible. Email to Kindle is a great feature; I've also never had anything unexpectedly deleted.

I would suggest you start like one would with anything programming. Come up with some simple ideas on what to build first and give it a try. Their documentation is pretty good and Lua/Luau is dead simple to work with.
