Vaguely related is Haxe, https://haxe.org/ . Originally a way to do ActionScript, now it targets a lot more and is quite nice to work in.

None of that matters for the kind of creative work the grand parent likely had in mind. Perhaps there was a memory leak in Unidentified Flying Assholes or the endless line of punch-a-celeb games or the thousands of stick fight productions a

I do a lot of development and sysadmin stuff on phones and tablets, to a large degree due to PentiKeyboard. It helps a lot to see the entire screen and have all the usual keyboard sends that a regular, physical keyboard has. https:/&#

WebDAV is a nightmare, breaks when you least need it. Once I moved a few TB over it, it took a week with all the retries and troubleshooting. As I understand it you can work around it with Nextcloud by running some other transfer service an

This article is about the political culture in a country that supplies a lot of technology and software to other countries, including the one where I live, that they have developed through occupation, apartheid and genocide. If I lived in t

When I teach I constantly tell them to start with data and hard coded, literal data representations, this seems to make it rather easy to get used to a functional style.

The Taliban was formed in 1994 and had very little to do with the Soviets. They became popular on a kind of 'tough on crime, say no to drugs' platform, because the US had invested heavily in local war lord drug barons and made a l

What do you mean by "war", exactly? The US bombing Somalia, Colombia and Venezuela clearly does not count, and neither does the SOF:s in Syria and Iraq, or the proxy wars in Ukraine, Yemen, Palestine and Lebanon. I suppose the tra

There are no such laws that I 'do like'. If you want to make the claim that there are laws that aren't backed up by state violence, in this case in Germany or elsewhere in the EU, name them and show that it is the case.

The last time Janjaweed-style gangs engaged in similar acts of apartheid and genocide in Darfur the US opposed it and openly called it a genocide. This was in 2007. I'm not sure when UAE ramped up funding and equipping of similar group

I think you have misunderstood something. As far as I know no state has ever declared that its own behaviour can amount to terrorism, and one reason for this is that the state applies to some degree arbitrary violence for ideological gain.

No, it's not. One important feature of the modern state is that it makes a claim to a monopoly on violence and institutionally back up its enforcement of its laws with this threat of violence.
