Why interface{}? You're storing a value (and using space for it) that you don't need.

One reason is that gccgo supports many architectures that gc does not (SPARC, MIPS, PowerPC, Alpha). It also was the only way to get Go on Solaris until the more recent port of gc to that platform. gccgo is also supposed to produce better c

If you just want to control Google Music via native keyboard shortcuts (and you're using Chrome), I made this a while ago: https://github.com/cespare/playctrl I use it on Linux and OS X.

I'm not sure why you think websites should cater to you if you're using plugins that disable browser functionality.

This post puzzled me. I feel like it was missing an introductory paragraph with a thesis and summary of the two branching models. You have to read part way through the article (ignoring the confusing diagram) before this becomes apparent.

This single comment really messes up the whole HN comments page by making it really wide. Someone should fix the CSS. (By the way, you can fix your comment to not do that by putting it in a literal block by prefixing with 2+ spaces.)

Rust uses malloc provided by the system. It's mentioned in the article: "I actually do have a malloc function because my Rust standard library needs to link against it" He hasn't implemented malloc in his kernel yet (exc

I thought HEAD was too hard to type and have been using $h (zsh alias) for HEAD for a few years. I'll be glad to save another 1 character with 1.8.5.

As noted in the link, Go is also moving to contiguous stacks[1]. This is supposed to be implemented in 1.3. [1] https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wAaf1rYoM4S4gtnPh0zOlGzW...

I also keep my whole homedir in git, and it's great. My approach isn't to .gitignore, because I want to ignore almost everything -- I just add and commit things when I want to track them. One of my many git aliases[1] is 'git
