It isn't possible as far as I know. And it wouldn't make much sense since everybody would like to be featured.

The Dell Mini 9 (which is Atom based) wouldn't be fast enough for the iPhone emulator (which you would use most of the time even if you own an iPhone). Moreover, Xcode on OSX86 kernels is unstable and buggy (first hand experience).

Or $599 for a Mac Mini (I've used it for iPhone development and it works beautifully).

> every product is put on an equal footing on the App Store This is not completely true since what Apple decides to promote in the "what's new", "what's hot", "staff favorites" etc spots makes a huge huge difference.

Microsoft is the new Microsoft. More seriously, I bought an ASUS netbook recently (Intel Atom, 1Gb ram, 160Gb hd) and I completely forgot that I was paying for the XP license, even though I intended to wipe the hd (as I did as soon as I was

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know it. So the matte doesn't have the glass? One thing I like of the glass screen is that it is probably easier to clean and in general more durable (except if you drop it on the floor, of course).

Glossy displays are cheaper to make (since they lack the anti-glare coating). Most consumers even prefer glossy vs matte (especially when they see them side to side at the shop) because the matte coating (obviously) reduces brightness and c

I didn't know that Turing studied morphogenesis. D'Arcy Thompson's "On Growth and Form" (mentioned in the article) is a fascinating read (at least, it was for me). For a nice introduction to computability theory I suggest David Harel "Compu

I thought that all this bad publicity wouldn't hurt Apple and the App Store model, but in the last few days I've heard many people how aren't geeks and who don't even own an iPhone talking about Cydia.

You know, all the cool conceptual new media artists use Arduino. It's marketing baby! More seriously, Arduino is open source too.

I think Apple is really going backwards with this move. The platform could have been a great medium to publish (and monetize) any kind of multimedia content (everything that couldn't be considered strictly an application, like interactive f

I've felt exactly the same way in the last few years. A complete understanding of the whole system in every detail is not so necessary for me. I just want to focus on the things I'm trying to accomplish without the need to constantly lookup

Not really. The press release says that it's about the potential conflict of interest. It would have been a concern as soon as Google announced Android, and probably even before.

Could you edit the poll? If so, could you add an answer for those who plan to keep developing for the iPhone but now are also looking into other platforms?

BTW, have you read the novel 'The Loser' by Thomas Bernhard? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Loser_(book) I bet most people here would like it. One of the three main characters is a fictitious Glenn Gould.
