It seems kind of silly that certain browsers download it again. Isn't it stored as temp data somewhere? They should only have to rename it. I'm actually happy with the way Chrome handles downloads in that it starts the download before you c

This is by far the most annoying aspect to me. The API constantly shifts with or without an email from Facebook, which means you're lucky to find any resource online that's up to date— including the API docs themselves.

I think the gp was saying that the brand — as in, the perception of AWS— will suffer, not the actual services. Anyone with an ounce of server knowledge would know it's impossible to keep a website up for 100% of the time, so downtime at Am

Like everyone else said, it's not exactly that. It's like getting paid $10k in exchange for a TV, then giving it back but not getting the TV back in return.

I think they're counting the loss of the merchandise. So a chargeback for a $10,000 TV would be like losing $10,000 plus whatever the cost of the TV was for the store.

I was about to quote the other parts of her post, but then I realized it's not worth the effort. If you don't acknowledge them after having presumably read the post, you're not going to do so when I quote them, and you'll probably throw som

I've heard those exact sentiments expressed on this very website , from people who were sitting at positive karma. It really isn't hard to see sexism in technology. It's a shame every time this subject comes up, guys clamor to be the first

In that case, you would collapse the top comment chain and be shown nothing underneath, since HN only shows X amount of total comments before requiring you to click More . I think HN would have to increase the total number of comments per

They were using their feelings to back up their point. If their feelings are misguided, the point they were trying to make is invalid. There is no proof that they would ever be publicly humiliated for misusing a pronoun, so to live in fear

Ugh, I really hate it when people split posts up like that. It gets unwieldy and strips the post of its overall context. I'm guilty of it, but I've been trying to cut back. It makes my posts smaller since I have to reply to the meat of it,

I'd like to see anyone take this level of vitriol and be completely level-headed. I would start stockpiling food, because apparently Jesus Christ has come back and the End Times are here.

Like I said in another reply, and like the author of this submission said in her post, many of the threats and harassing statements were very much specific to her gender (and some of her race.) Why is it that when a woman does something wro
