yep, loading javascript libraries from CDN is more and more common. I'd suggest you add ajax.googleapis.com and yui.yahooapis.com (there's probably more) [Edit] you mentioned googleapis.com already.

That could make sense if cats weren't the type of pets who absolutely need to be on your lap when you're trying to use your laptop. Not a good location for a repeater.

Bank ('debit') cards in France kinda work like US credit cards. The bank will happily let your account balance go negative and then charge you fees+high interest rate. I've been in the US 7 years and I haven't quite yet understood why credi

It's nice to own 100% of your company and turn a profit, especially given the current economy, but you really need to have faith in the 'less is better' philosophy. The pace of development feels excruciatingly slow when you have to multitas

I think that's true for B2C, but if you sell to businesses, they probably don't have an Amazon account with their business CC on record. It also looks more "professional" to have the whole payment process contained in your site.

Sorry to bring back the table vs. css layout debate, but since Google use tables for some parts of their layout, can we assume that this is because it renders faster (and therefore makes more money for them)?

I'm actually refactoring our marketing site, and most of the the work is done in CSS stylesheets. I sometime edit the markup to change classes or add the occasional <div>. What I gain from CSS is that I can easily play with the layo

Front-end/Web design has evolved into a discipline of its own. If you come from a different field, say programming, I can see how CSS looks like a bad solution to an already solved problem. So you're incentive is to stick to what you know a

They are actually not that easier to use. More intuitive perhaps, but they have enough quirks on their own. I briefly taught a web design class and I remember students struggling with their table-based layouts. Layouts would be inconsistent

You could look at the html source of csszengarden. I'm guessing it uses a bit less markup and is a bit more readable than an equivalent table based layout. CssZenGarden also shows that refactoring a CSS-driven site is easier since you can d

There's also quite a few css frameworks out there that take the hard part out of laying out a page: Blueprint, YUI grid. See also: http://www.contentwithstyle.co.uk/content/a-css-framework

By all mean, do what you feel more comfortable with, but working with CSS is not necessarily slower than using table layouts. You just need to get over the learning curve. [edited]

Manolis comments on Paul's post summed it up pretty well for me. What feels counter intuitive is that announcing the gender of one child seems to increase the chances of the other child being of a different gender, but it's actually the opp

What would really bother me with that business model is that you are highly dependent on your Google rank. You can lose all your revenues instantly if you are removed from the index or outranked by a competitor.
