Cancer sucks. If you care to learn more about the disease and the search for a cure, check out "The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer" by Siddhartha Mukherjee. Fascinating, scary and sobering. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/

Looks great, but returns 0 plan that includes maternity coverage in my area. I don't know if it's an issue with the app, or just the sad state of health insurance in the US... probably a bit of both.

I like the idea, but I would expect to see a lot of very confused users when that error message is displayed. Any feedback on that from your users?

Ok. I can see myself using this for my business, since I have some solid data for most metrics. I could then get a better sense of the kind of impact improving one metric or another would have. Still not sure of the usefulness when you star

I guess I don't see the point of this tool. You have to make wild guesses for every single metrics in there. Is it a MBA thing? Do people really find this useful? EDIT: Maybe I got confused by the 'business plan' part. Is it intended for an

Firefox 6 seems to ignore the encoding declaration in the xml prolog. Setting a content-type meta tag should fix this (or setting the encoding in the http headers). <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/>

Your browser probably auto-detects the encoding as Western (ISO-8959-1). Change it to Unicode (UTF-8) to see the Arabic characters.

We're currently in the process of sponsoring two foreigners for H1B visa, and we're a small bootstrapped startup, so yeah it's definitely possible. The legal costs are fairly high, but we have been working with the 2 applicants for several

It reminds me of the Measure Map acquisition. Launch a new product, then acquire a talented team that worked on something similar. It worked pretty well I believe for Google Analytics. http://techcrunch.com/2006/02/14/google-buys-measurem

For what it's worth, I think it's fairly common practice these days. Not long ago I booked a car rental (I think on Avis.com). The first time I got a quote, I didn't book it right away as I was shopping for better prices elsewhere. When I c

It always amazes me how cultural differences find their ways in the oddest little details. I had never heard of the 2 space rule until I moved to the US, and only recently did I realize that the question mark was missing its preceding space

If you have cash sitting around, you'd want to spend it to accelerate your business. Buying a company with a successful product, great team, large user base and actual revenues can be seen as a much safer investment (assuming the price isn'

Comcast pulled quite a bluff, but I don't see how they can win in the long term. As a Comcast subscriber, I'd more than happy to switch to a different ISP if Comcast starts to limit access to Netflix or any other content provider.

Welcome to the joys and sorrows of hosting user-generated content. If this makes you feel better, rackspace is just your first problem. You'll also find soon enough that abuses can get your domain blacklisted in chrome, firefox, and for open

I think the key is that they've been in business for 11 years. You need 100% focus to build a profitable business, but once you get the recipe right (and for 37signals, when was that? 5 years ago?), it gets easier and easier to diversify.

I use Eclipse as my main development environment. I'm familiar with vi, I use it regularly for sys-admin stuff, and used it extensively a while back in college. As far a text-editor goes, I'm 100% sure that vim/emacs power users are extrem
