Mostly because user interface is meant to expose the common tasks to the user vs API which is supposed to give a low level control. curl is a good example, as a tool is fairly accessible, but as the library it gives control on all the aspec

I share @ezekiel68 feeling. Your solution to replace CLI parameters with code is a terrible idea... 1) CLI support is an additional logic in your program that makes no real work CLI is a user interface, it does real work as giving user way

Yup, it's not a bad point of view, but it totally misses the point of the contested xkcd comic, which doesn't fight with the freedom of speech and doesn't reduce it to the dead law.

This "article" is an example either of: - ignorance: as the author doesn't understand what they are writing about; - straw man argument, as the author creates a fictional opponent unrelated to the referenced xkcd comic... Any

As you've written, everybody is different, but making assumptions is a fundamental human mechanism to deal with the complex reality, e.g. assuming that black person in central Europe is an immigrant. As long as people do not violate la

Probably most of my old family members in Europe would say that the people of different skin colors are of different races. It's just like that, because it is common to hear/read about human races in songs/books/tv/

1) predictive policing is racist by either of your definitions, isn't it? Predictive policing isn't racist by any definition. Given an imaginary perfect predictor, one could detect all the potential criminals. Now, it may happen

"Conversations with an Executioner" is IMHO the best book giving insight into a mind of a real nazist. It's direct and honest, much more profound than classical historical book.

You can always analyze Bible as any other book. In Poland (which is mainly catholic) I've read Bible in school only: 1) to compare the description of biblical creation with the greek mythology (just comparative analysis, without implyi

Still, to be fair, those are just short fragments of the Bible. Nobody asks kids to read the whole Bible. Also, at least when I was a child, we read Bible in comparison with other ancient texts. Last but not the least, so many books/po

I would say that non-fiction books, giving a view on the past errors in the human history, should be considered very important titles. "A World Apart" by Herling Grudzinski was the most important book on the lecture list when I wa

I agree that electronic books are strangely expensive compared to the printed editions. As for the book market, it's in a terrible state given decreasing interest in reading. Second biggest bookshop brand went bankrupt not so long ago

Interesting move. Sadly kids nowadays (at least in Poland, where I live) don't like reading books and tend to skip even very important titles. This may be a good way to bring some interest in the history via a genuinely entertaining me
