What you say doesn't fit what I've read from primary news accounts ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1986192 ) nor from other swedes ( http://www.jumbled-words.com/?p=6909 ).

Google is not currently optimized for technical people - if anything, it's anti-optimized. It shouldn't be hard to beat it for technical queries.

There is a ton of misinformation and confusion out there. This is the most clear-headed piece I've seen about the charges: http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6B669H20101207 And on the smearing of the alleged victims: http://www.salo

The BBB is a hugely profitable enterprise with a huge payroll. I'm not sure they're even classified as a non-profit. The executives of the BBB make hundreds of thousands a year, according to 20/20: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo8kfV9kON

Here's Google's incredibly vague blog post: http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/12/being-bad-to-your-cus... - and HN thread: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1959348 Whatever they've done, it seems to reportedly be affecting some que

Like I said, I completely understand doing what's fastest/easiest, and that definitely makes sense. If Wordpress is what you know, it's completely defensible even if it's overkill. To be fair though, the choice isn't really "Wordpress vs ha

I'm guessing "not flash" - on most sites a few years ago (and probably still today) a product page like that would've definitely been flash.

Not sure I 100% understand the response, but I guess I feel it should either look like a blog or not look like a blog. Even my dad knows what a blog looks like, and right now that post sort of looks like it's part of a half-implemented blog

Small question - why is the blog directly on the root rather than under something like /blog/? And don't you think it'd look better to post under something other than "ADMIN"?

The descriptions being .pdfs is a turn-off. I see no reason for them to be PDFs at at all either - they're just a logo and some text.

It probably doesn't have to be repeated here, but most of these are just random apocryphal interview questions - not anything representative of what would actually be asked at Google. There are good sources for actual Google interview quest

I don't feel like I should have to narrow down date ranges, though I end up doing so every time a search returns forum posts. The algorithm ought to know that something posted six weeks ago is much more likely to be relevant than something

Also, I forgot to mention the amount of outdated forum posts that you get with technical searches - that's the other huge problem with search quality for me aside from content mills and content scrapers. If I go directly to Stack Overflow e

My issue is the increasingly low quality of Google search results. The problem is not with just one particular site, as distasteful as I find Mahalo, but a class of sites. If you don't consider the SEO practices of the content mills that ar

I agree completely about search quality, as my comment history here and elsewhere might indicate. The majority of my Google searches anymore return very low quality results without some serious query mangling or heavy filtering. At this poi

I actually like the simplicity of the Linux 2.1 client a lot. I use version 3 (I think, maybe 4?) on Windows because I find the old interface a lot more usable than the 5.0 one.

I hate that - I wish someone could come up with a way to either front-load or back-load the prompts that interrupt the install. The upgrade alone took 3 hours on my laptop, and that ballooned to 5+ from it getting hung up on prompts.

There appear to still be serious issues with both the proprietary Nvidia and ATI drivers with Xorg 1.9 - kind of a shame. If you have an older Nvidia card, or an ATI card plus certain monitors, you're not going to be able to use the good dr

If you have the 10.10 RC already, I'm pretty sure there's no "upgrade" to the final as if you were coming from 10.04 - the updates you've been applying along the way have put you there.

My desktop's been on 10.10 since early September, my first go at a beta release. One the whole I don't think I'd do it again; there's been at least two showstopping bugs. To be fair, one of those (ATI driver incompatibility with new X serve
