Can you define "here on HN"? Are you suggesting that the submitter is a shill for patio11? Or that a community member can't sell anything? Or if it a product makes it onto the HN front page, the seller needs to remove the price?

Yeah, the premise about user behavior in this post feels wrong. I never browse the app store by searching. I search for a specific thing by name and it's normally a top result. I browse by category.

This comment stuck in my craw a bit, and I'm trying to disect the comment and why it bothered me. I have backed several kickstarter project, received the results of a couple, funded a project via kickstarter and promoted several projects.

I know for one of the games I work on, the chat-commands/command-line interface is one of the most popular user interface features for power users. And the main reason is what you suggest about navigating and clicking. Admittedly, in a ga

Hmm, the AT&t prices are too high based on their new mobile share plan. $70 for 4 gigs and $40 per smartphone with unlimited talk and text. http://www.att.com/mobileshare

On my iphone, clicking an image opened as a tiny thumbnail at the top right and I couldn't navigate to the other images. A lightbox that worke on desktop and mobile smoothly would be great. But this doesn't see to be it. (and even better, a

Aren't some programming celebrities more like rock stars than they are like an average programmer? They (can) demand high pay. They tour events and people come to see them. They get press coverage. People are excite to download their la

My immediate thought was, "Neat, I'm going to add this to my feed reader and see how it progresses." Followed by... "Hmm, no RSS link." (view source)... "Huh."

Maybe Joe or Tina the other developers. Or maybe it was Mark or Cheryl from systems. That said, in my experience, this doesn't end up being a common issue because people do the sensible thing and add the new field to the end of the file, s

The author doesn't imply that it's attractive or useful, just that it's the average of all the fonts on this system. He even jokes that the name meaning "mechanical breakdown or damage" is somehow appropriate. This is, in some ways, the so

I think this part of the README is relevant: Thanks to Jason Scott and Tony Diaz for successfully extracting the source code from a 22-year-old 3.5" floppy disk archive, a task that took most of a long day and night, and woul

I understand your concerns here, but I'm also wondering about the 8k figure. Isn't it closer to 3k? (1.45% medicare and 6.2% SS?) I'd be interested in more background on the industry. My experience is that, exempting cleaners hired by la

I really enjoyed this article, but the interesting thing to me is the need to rationalize why things like MMOs fade away. It seems like they have a natural life cycle. This guy didn't bring Star Wars Galaxies down. The developers adding

I pay about $1500/month for a family of four. Admittedly this is an HMO group plan in NY as opposed to a high deductible plan since we have some pre-existing conditions that preclude a non-group plan. Yeah, not cheap.
