Nope, doesn't work. Most of spam today is sent trough compromised computers (botnets), so requiring more CPU work doesn't do anything (other than increase the world power consumption a tiny bit).

The first question I would ask is: what attacks are you trying to defend against? Can the attacker eavesdrop on the initial communication? If so, the attacker has all the needed information. If the initial channel is assumed to be protected

Funny and informative :-) Though "syndrome" seems misnomer. Probably "failure" or "failure mode" would be better (syndrome makes me think of a person).

I would recommend __against__ CCCP and any other codec packs. Codec packs in general are pieces of software ripped from the original installs and put together in ways the orignal author didn't expect. Thus it will crap out with a high

Careful with that. perl -c still runs the BEGIN blocks so don't rely on it for safety (ie. if you're handling untrusted code).

You had me until "backups are encrypted with PBKDF2". PBKDF2 is not encryption, it is a Key Derivation Function (it says so right in the name - KDF). Given that one of the developers is claiming that they are "encrypting"

AFAIK you can't actually eat "real" Fugu in any but the most select places. What you get as Fugu is a domesticated / non poisonous version usually.

I had the opposite experience: while the lectures were quite good, the exercises were many times confusing and frustrating - they kept refusing my solution because there were hidden assumptions, not stated clearly in the problem definition.
