Absolutely. I think your example puts this more eloquently than my point. Having the deep understanding and background is really critical. Everything else can be added on top and as you go while in the field.

And what is the "best" result in your opinion? I'm getting the homepage of Hacker News (news.ycombinator) along with a nice description. I'm as skeptical as the next guy when it comes to this kind of stuff, but this is j

I clicked the links and every link on the frontpage is to different Hacker News pages. I see nothing wrong here.

Because, as far as I know (I haven't used TrueCrypt too much), it will see the volume as a file and then you'll be syncing a huge, x GB file every time you make the smallest change within it.

The recent surge in physical shipping startups is interesting, but concerning as well. How can these new companies with limited funds afford to be sending drivers around to pickup packages and visit various locations? I think yesterday ther

Will it remain free for people who download it now? Or will it expire in a few weeks when the commercial version comes out?

Well if you're passing session data in a URL (logins or passwords as parameters, not the typical one-click to activate one-time links) you're doing something wrong. Second, Microsoft has no way of distinguishing a normal URL from a URL that

You're saying you tried to scan an IPv6 address? Sorry I didn't even think of that! I'll look into adding it.

All true, and you said what I came here to say. Another point: breaking "news" is helpful for those who are affected by the situation at hand. What I think the author of the article fails to mention is that people are following the news bec

Thankfully this doesn't read like the typical large corporation email: "...the attacker was able to gain access to all the passwords, which were stored as plaintext in the database." It sad to have to say it, but Kudos to Scribd for actuall

From what I've read about this project so far, it requires adding "a single line of JavaScript to the site." So what's to stop scammers and spammers from just blocking the file from loading?

Hmm, I see what you're saying; no it doesn't appear to create the thumbnail in chat. It would be interesting if Facebook uses different crawlers depending on whether the link is posted in the status box or in a chat. That could lead to some

You're right, but it also happens when you paste in the status button before hitting "Post." Try this: go to Facebook, post a link in your status box. Wait a few seconds. Notice that it will populate the link information fields even before
