If you are using third-party disk (or anything) encryption tools, the keys would be stored in userspace RAM, which isn't saved to disk by shutdown. It only persists parts of the kernel, and presumably does not persist Bitlocker keys.

I like the idea of having a general theme, and then presenting what you've built at the end somehow. I'd rather not do a hackathon that required we use a specific API or product, or otherwise restrict what you work on. Instead, make the h

This is a FDM printer that is a lot cheaper than the MakerBot ($800 vs $2100). The Form 1 is a SLA printer, which means it is better at making small, precise parts; but worse at making parts that are durable enough for actual testing in as

I'm all for designers learning a bit of the technical background behind colors on the web, but this article is full of technical inaccuracies, misconceptions, and misleading comparisons. "Tens place"? "24-bit color" ignores alpha and color

Just select and split off all the text to a new layer, then apply the distortion to the plot layer and not the text.

Google Voice doesn't come stock with Android. You can install it if you have a Google Voice account. If so, you probably know which one you want to use for texting. For example, I'm on Sprint and have GV integration enabled, which means

Tip: If you are running CyanogenMod (and possibly some other ROMs), you can take a screenshot by long-pressing the power button to bring up the power menu. In CM10 this is optional and can be enabled in settings.

Grab the latest of JMZTaylor's unofficial CM9 nightlies! They are very stable and a huge upgrade from CM7 on my original Evo.

The newest RAM that you can get as a TSSOP (as opposed to BGA) is DDR1. DDR2 and DDR3 are only available in BGA packages.

ZFS doesn't use that much RAM if you don't turn on deduplication, which is of less use in a system that serves large compressed video files than one that handles tons of read/write traffic as an office file server.

Your task killer might be hurting your battery life rather than helping it. In any case, in recent versions (2.1+ I think), Android is better at managing tasks than a third-party app, and overzealous background task killing doesn't help an
