The mechanism of action I've seen is that sometimes OBS will start on, say, internal graphics, and you'll need to force it to run on your discrete graphics card in order to get it to screen capture your video game. This affects co

Double check your color space in settings. For a screen recording you want 4:4:4 (look for "rgb" or something); often video cameras are 4:2:2 or 4:2:0.

If memory serves, the T2 chip was introduced with the touch bar macbooks. There were later macbooks that had regular hardware Fn buttons, but you would be able to tell if they had a Touch ID power button. Of course, that doesn't help y

Are you saying that the hub drew more power when more devices were plugged in (expected)? Or that the hub broke the USB-C port on your laptop, such that when you unplugged it, any device you plugged in directly thereafter also reported draw

I recall when Simple transitioned from Bancorp to BBVA as part of the BBVA acquisition, and it... did not go smoothly. Days of downtime, and double-spends on transactions that did go through. As someone living paycheck-to-paycheck at the ti

I was under the impression AOM members were paying into a fund for exactly that purpose, but I'm not sure if there is precedence for its use.

I suspect this is the bikeshed effect at work. There's an episode of The Magic School Bus (the original one, from the 90s) where a cacao farmer eradicates mosquitos and the cacao trees stop producing cacao beans. The episode ends with

A dual-charger Chargepoint is something like $12k, so for a large tech company it's straightforward to throw in a dozen or so when they're putting up a new building and parking lot/garage. For the bay area, though, I think th

For an EV, maybe consider leasing. For a conventional car you'd sell after 5 years or drive it for ten to reduce TCO, so you'd want to compare that with the monthly cost for (say) a 36 mo lease.

To me, the design language feels like a cross between an iPad Pro and the iMac G3. The chin, the apple logo on the back, and the rainbow colors. If anything, I'd expect they're reducing complexity by having the seven colors -- I i

$COIN did a direct listing, so I think execs and employees selling their shares on day 1 is working as designed? Lockup periods come from the traditional IPO process, where the company creates new shares that are sold on day 1.

If Coinbase gets sufficiently mainstream, I suspect it will mitigate a lot of this. A transfer of BTC between two Coinbase users can happen off-chain, which means skipping the work necessary to mine a block including the given transaction.

I realize that very real performance reasons (especially with git repos) resulted in WSL 2, but I still think it's a shame we had to go down that road. WSL 1 literally provided Linux system ABIs on top of NT, and it was super cool that

I do remember using my 1997-era computer (Pentium II, 233 MHz, 32 MB RAM, 3 GB disk) to listen to audio even though I didn't have a collection of MP3s. Many computers at that time shipped with a CD-ROM (if not a CD-R or CD-RW) drive, a

As far as I can tell, the 'diediedie' naming is historical; for example drafts for RFC 8758 Deprecating RC4 in Secure Shell (SSH) were named draft-luis140219-curdle-rc4-die-die-die ( https://tools.ietf.org/html/
