Shells are supposed to inherit a ton of state from their parent — [e]uid, groups, working dir, env vars, nice, umask, chroot, ... This takes zero effort in unix, but would all have to be (securely!) re-implemented to be able to send code

termbin seems to be a classical pastebin. it only gives you a URL after it received all input. seashells gives URL immediately, and streams the terminal in real-time.

Emacs cua-mode is not bad. It does create some confusion with C-x shortcuts, eg. C-x C-s when typed too slowly will cut selected text and enter search, instead of saving :-( But I'd love a more total conversion to CUA... E.g. I have C

When you commit your changes, it's similarly easy to inspect package.json changes, and only commit the lines you want [1]. This change increases the chance that what you have working locally is reproducible from "source". IM

I wonder: did you spend much of this time on math formulas, or on "regular" typography like lists & headings? TeX math notation is the pretty much only game in town, and worth learning, but there are many ways to skip/eas

Yeah, TeX name autocomplete or better yet free unicode description search triggered by \ is the obvious direction. (think github emoji search, like how :ship also offers :anchor: and :package:) https://kasperpeulen.github.io/

Another case where git uses SHA1 is submodules. You audit libfoo's well-regarded v1.3.3.7 release, commit badc00fee, decide it's suits your need and use that commit as a submodule in your project. You assume resolving the submodu

This specific question formulation suffers from too vague terminology. If you asked me, I wouldn't even be sure what "C++-style arrays" means. IMHO, the most important part of the (imprecise) answer about "pointer vs s

Yeah, one of the motivations for adding namedtuple to stdlib was a drop-in compatible upgrade of existing interfaces returning tuples. Notable atrocities included `time.localtime()` returning a 9-tuple, and `os.stat()` returning a 10-tuple.

But that source would also be AGPL and a buyer could share it with the rest of the world. But the odds of someone except the original developer wanting to work on a paid version are low anyway.
