Others have already addressed the "unsafe" smell. I think the bigger point here is that doing SIMD in Rust is still painful. There are efforts like portable-simd [1] to make this better, but in practice, many people are dropping d

In college, I would listen to WPPP in Athens, GA (100 watts). These days I listen to WPTS in Pittsburgh, PA (16 watts). Low power college radio is great! The broadcasts are always so varied, and there's never any commercials.

For the record, this design pattern is called a virtual method table, or vtable. I'm surprised that this article never mentioned the term. C++ programmers will know this pattern from the `virtual` keyword.

I see. Maybe we're getting too hung up on a prescribed meaning of the word "ethics" rather than the larger meaning of what we're actually saying to each other. Your original comment talks about the distinction between &q

No, I think you are misunderstanding. There really isn't an "ethics" of what exploits are allowed or disallowed. Speed running communities generally don't care what exploits you use, as long as you are up-front and hones

I don't see why not. It's sensational, and that drives clicks. Clicks sell ads. I don't think anyone is exactly holding Gizmodo to high journalistic standards.

Fun thing! The double-click to clear is too sensitive for me. I keep accidentally clearing when I try to go fast.

Nit: "begs the question" means "raises the question" in many contemporary colloquial contexts. It can _also_ refer to a type of logical fallacy in philosophical contexts. The phrase can be confusing because of its overlo

Tears of the Kingdom is a Switch exclusive. The style is influenced by Breath of the Wild, but nothing about the development of Tears was held back by the Wii U.

The first thing that comes to mind when I see Malört is this "unaired commercial" skit from 2014 [1]. I quite like Malört. If you are into other bitter liqueurs, like Fernet or Absinthe, then definitely give it a try. [1]: https:

This was so annoying when visiting Poland recently. I don't speak Polish. Even after setting my preferred language on my Google account , Google Search was still speaking Polish to me.

I was curious about the opposite: What does this offer on top of Erlang? Is it just a new syntax for effectively the same language? IMO, the pure operator precedence syntax of Erlang is peak homoiconigraphy. I prefer that over syntactic sug
