(And What It Has to Do With Aliens) Hint: nothing. Why the need to bring aliens into it? I like how this isn't in the topic here, because it's really clickbait. I didn't find one mention of any talk about aliens in the whol

One thing not mentioned is a lot of high quality indoor grows will actually supplement CO2 into the air from tanks, or less frequently, natural gas burners. (Burners aren't ideal, since they generate heat, which is the major problem i

This is great. I have someone in my meetings to has the bad connection problem all the time. When trying that one out though, if I disabled it, it would only sometimes disable itself (and re-enable audio)?

It's true, I've loved steam for its pretty great linux support. I love that games like RimWorld, Kerbal Space Program, Stellaris, Civ, and other games are playable on my linux machine!

Just a small point, but I feel like the editing has also gotten worse over time as newspapers have gone digital. I see spelling errors, punctuation and other problems in WaPo about once a week, and I don't even read it all.

From personal experience in both, I would say academia is worse, and I think it's due to the lack of choices. Also, when academics are getting paid less, I feel like they gain some of their status by lording their power over other peo

I'm not sure if this counts as #2, but I've hired a number of good people on HN via the monthly job postings. It's a good community, and not even just people who blog.

I remember being at work when we turned off Xbox 1 support for LIVE. We had one last Xbox console and we watched it start to be able to not connect. The end of an era.

Wow that's really cool - thanks for sharing. This almost makes me want to get a new 3ds! I just have an old one. But I can't think of any other reason to upgrade. These days I'm living on the switch :)
