> "he doesn't work too hard" This is desirable. It's not surprising that this person is a "Founder/CEO" and her definition of "A+" is "working hard". But she'll give you some

Ugh, but the Boy Scouts are homophobic and the Girl Scouts are progressive and awesome . It would be better if this was the other way around. I'd love for the Girl Scouts to become the "Scouts" and the Boy Scouts to die off.

So, this basically kills the ecosystem, right? Has anyone reverse-engineered and documented their client API?

I think that at lot of these pollute the global scope unnecessarily or incorrectly, and many of them are semantically incorrect. It's also a massive framework that doesn't address a specific concern. It would be better packaged as

Those almost universally look bad, because you can't tailor them. That's fine for the sort of people that rent tuxedos, because they don't care - they need a tuxedo because a dress code calls for it, but they aren't int

I disagree with 3, a subset is not "less than" the superset. Sets are equatable, but they're not comparable. A named function or a different operator would be preferable.

If you are in the US, what is the difference between the "3 month probation period" and the rest of their employment, since you can fire them at any time anyways ?

No - staying primarily to avoid the "job hopper" label, and to finish documentation coverage so that I can avoid burning bridges as much as possible - I am solely responsible for the portion of the product that I work on, no one e

This, albeit without the mess, is my current office setup. I can't quit as I've only been here 8 months, so I'm waiting to complete a full year. Sort of hoping the company just runs out of money so that I can have a free out.

Ah, "had Christmas", to me, implies being on Christmas, i.e. "we had Christmas at Aunt A and Uncle B's last year".

> The first really great company I worked at was explicit about being family-oriented; they'd bring everyone's family to the office and cook dinners, had Christmas at the founders house, that sort of thing. This sounds horrid.

No, I get that it's legal. But there's no... border. In the map link I posted, you wouldn't be able to tell half of the satellite view was Belgium without Google telling you that's the case. How do you close that down, e

A monad in Swift terms is essentially just a container type with an initializer that lets you put something in it, and implements flatMap. In Haskell, the equivalents are return and >>=. You can do more with it in Haskell because Mona

Just use Optional<T>! This is what it's for! There's some saying about Java "design patterns" that can just be replaced with closures. There should probably be another for for ADTs.

A solution to this would be to disallow mutable value types. Then, all methods would _have_ to return a new instance. The compiler implementation could use mutability behind the scenes for efficiency, while the language exclusively allowed

I don't think I could deal with losing Swift's type system and working in JavaScript, plus the whole Optional vs null issue.
