The arcane keywords are really terrible design, IMO. Normal users shouldn't have to remember this sort of a thing. It's a regression past burying everything in a hamburger menu.

Ah, the copy ("Magician", somehow they're going to conjure up Tina Fey for $100?) made me think it was a joke.

This appears to be a peculiarity of the OpenGL headers - GL_ARRAY_BUFFER is just a #define: #define GL_ARRAY_BUFFER 0x8892 Instead of a proper constant. Therefore, Swift interprets it as an integer, which is fairly reasonable. GLEn

Layout done in code: - Is type-safe, which is verified at compile-time. - Will break at compile-time if a breaking change is made. - Can be null-safe, without having to use Optional for everything. - Can do things iteratively. - Can use con

On one hand, you're completely right, on the other, I wish I could block all GIFs from Slack (or just not get notified about them). That kind of thing doesn't help me get work done, which is what I'm at work to do - not to sh

You're not supposed to tip Uber drivers, that was one of the main selling points of Uber. The fares are higher than yellow cabs to compensate for that.

Swift does not allow code blocks after an if statement without curly brackets, so this is not an issue.

What is the point of the sigature? Mine never look even close to the same. Is this a serious security mechanism? If you're not going to do chip and PIN (and you should ), why not just chip and nothing?

Is there any explanation for the lack of types in error handling anywhere? The compiler should be able to easily infer those and require that you handle them correctly.

Twitter's employees are presumably all at-will, so they could get rid of any of them immediately, if they wanted to. It's probably harder to hire them in first place though, instead of just hiring an agency.

Ads and general horribleness that is the Twitter UI, although that's an argument for using Tweetbot, not the bad official Twitter apps.

If you like video games, you might like climbing more than lifting - unlike lifting, the numbers are mostly made up and don't really matter, the only thing that counts is solving problems. More like a strategy game than lifting, which

You don't really need to pay for a book. If you're experienced with C# it'll be pretty easy to pick up. But, if you really want one, the definitive choice is "The Swift Programming Language", which is free: https:&

I didn't know uTorrent was a company! I haven't used Windows in forever, so I've been using Transmission for a long time, but I feel like that's the equivalent of foobar2000 being a company or something.

I wonder why they're writing a new KVO library, given that KVO is very awkward in Swift. Something like ReactiveCocoa's PropertyType/MutablePropertyType is a much safer approach.
