not serious. if the courts can't even decide who owns the IP, I doubt the source is going to be free any time soon.

How about an api so that we can script it? ;-) Would make it a lot easier for Amnesty International. All that handwriting makes my hand numb!

Here's a better venue: http://superhappydevhouse.org/SuperHappyDevHouse35 I've met my current and previous startup founders at these series of events. However, I've never gone there with the intention of finding a co-founder.

Is it because Twitter runs on Ruby? What if I mentioned Scala and Twitter in the same sentence?

Well, he's living in SF at the moment. I usually remember the days I crank on the heat in the middle of summer so my fingers are warm enough to type.

That usually depends on the city. There's a Walmart here in Mountain View, but your only worry is being robbed by ex-Yahoo employees.

What is the cost of the RV including all the modifications & addons? Also, how often do you move the RV?

Seems like you'd never need cooling if you're in SF. I've needed heat in the summer in SF sometimes.

Hm, interesting. Maybe computer science needs a new hip name to increase enrollment. We could call it "Autonomous Human Sociology".

Honestly, I don't know how we got this press either... and I'm one of the founders. We haven't really tried hard yet either. I'm pretty sure we could get more if we tried.

I don't see why this is stupid advice, I run dozens of applications off my USB flash drive. My USB flash drive happens to be an Intel SSD drive so the failure rate is probably lower, but it's nice to have a big portable drive that contains

I'm not debating which database scales better. I'm questioning why anyone would use a "big" server for mysql. If you're going to do replication with mysql, you don't need 10 servers with 68 gigs of memory -- you'd probably be better off

Technically speaking, Java can have mixins as well if you include libraries that provide it. Stuff like Spring AOP uses aspectj under the covers and you can mimic mixin-like functionality in your classes with a few annotations here and the

You can do closures, namespaces, mixins, etc in all of those languages (C++, C, Java). Some of them involve libraries, but the fact that people are engineering libraries to do those things means there is actually a need for those things in

yeah, for most simple apps, scp will do the trick, but anytime you start writing scripts to upload the same set of files on 5 different machines, it's time to use capistrano.

I'm not sure why they chose MySQL. Does mysql still scale linearly up to 8 cores? I figured most people who need 8 cores for mysql would have already gone to sharding or partitioning.

The main issue was that zack's software would automatically make me follow someone. He could probably add some basic heuristics to prevent people from following spammers. Even basic bayesian filtering would have worked. Some of the spamm

You should consider disabling the service until you fix this issue. It wasn't just a bad experience for me, it was a negative one... one that cost me around 5 hours of work to clean up.

I thought happy farms came first? I assumed most US companies quickly copied the Chinese version, FarmVille being one of the last clones, but more successful than their predecessors (like farmtown).
