> Sure, you can't write a great 60 fps first person shooter game for the web you can, you know WebGL is hardware accelerated and there is Asm.js - even the Unreal game engine runs in Firefox and Chrome.

This article feels dated. If he wrote it in 2011, I would agree with him. Web apps don't try to recreate the native UI anymore - something that used to be the case some years ago in the iOS1-6 era. Nowadays the UI of Android 5+, iOS 7+

3 years ago, I benchmarks it with thousands of lines: SVG was faster than Canvas in Internet Explorer 10, probably due their extensive long history with their VML legacy rendering. But SVG was a lot slower in Chrome and Firefox than Canvas

Interesting. I considered graph libs based on-top of D3. But D3 is equally big in JS file size to JQuery. And SVG wasn't supported in older Android (2.3) and slower in Firefox and Chrome 3 years ago. So flot with its Canvas rendering &

True, "real" modern super automatics coffee machines are a lot cheaper in the long run (cheap raw coffee) and you have to clean them only as often as a Nespresso machine. (Considering no milk processing is involved, which means ca

I used flot too, as a replacement for Highcharts. The only downside I dislike about flot is that it depends on JQuery. As I otherwise don't rely on JQuery at all, it means another ~80kb of additional JS code. Beside that, flot seem to

What are the advantages of SVG or Canvas in that use case? Which one (SVG, Canvas) is principle faster on current browser with thousands of data points?

Crytek produced Far Cry 1 and the next game was Crysis 1. The AI system evolved of course. On the other side you Crysis 1 also uses a lot of scripted sequences for cinematic purposes too. Far Cry 2-4 were developed by another studio based o

You see it not as problem, because user don't see you (your sites). As IPv4 are getting rare, many share the same IP. So it's really a bad practice to ban IP for a longer period.

Good to know. A workmate owns one. I don't get the huge screen size trend anyway. About 4.5" (iPhone, Samsung Alpha, Sony XPeria Z3 Compact, etc.) is already the physical limit to fit comfortable in many pockets and is certainly b

SD card slot works fine in Android 5.x, a similar experience as in Android 2.3. One can install apps there, one can put private files there, it even support per app-storage there. Sure some old apps may not work with the newer Android 5 API

It doesn't make sense to mention "Moto G". Google owned Motorola during that era. In the meanwhile Google sold Motorola again and recent models come with a new customized UI. Most companies like Samsung, HTC, Sony, Motorola,

Samsung smartphone/tablet hardware is fine, but their Android "support" is a joke. No Android updates after a few weeks. Samsung still sells some Android 2.3.x and 4.1.x devices and most of their devices never received the 2.

I enjoy driving, but I dislike rush hour traffic / traffic jams. Self-driving cars would be great to drive to the workplace and back home. But on weekend I want to drive myself on lonely scenic roads.

It's a bit complex. Basically only graphic card drivers are a bit problematic. But it's the binary driver compatibility that makes ReactOS unique. Windows XP and 7/8/10 supports several driver models (incl. legacy) and d

It all will depend on the dissatisfaction with "Windows as a service". If there is a real benefit for companies, things can change fast ... see the history of UNIX and Linux. ReactOS is where Linux was in 1996.

KDE 1-3 and Gnome 2 were great. But then something went horrible wrong in their UX- and UI-designer-mindset. Similar to Windows 95-Vista/7 had a really nice UX and UI, but the Metro/Modern-UI (WinPhone7+ and Win8+) is just tastele

ReactOS re-implements the WinNT series (XP+) OS kernel (you can compare it with UNIX vs. Linux) and WINE provides the user mode layer. Visual Studio 2010 and the dotNet Framework work fine in WINE: https://appdb.winehq.org/o

There are alternatives to "Windows 10 as a service" - WINE on Mac/Linux and ReactOS. ReactOS is an attempt to build an open source version of Windows XP/7. It uses source code from WINE and it aims for better compatibili
