What does "signalling" mean in this context? I tried to look it up and failed to find a definition that made sense.

I would say that technical competence is not one of the 2 things you need to make it in the business. You only need to find work and get paid. Technical competence is just a bonus that may improve longevity, sometimes.

I had the same issue, but I switched from Karabiner to https://www.orderedbytes.com/controllermate/ and I couldn't be happier. It did take a bit of extra time to replicate my Karabiner setup, however controllermat

This bothered me a lot too. If he can tell the difference between 'tap v bottled' but not 'tap vs soma'... then 'soma vs bottled' would intuitively have a different result if his conclusion is 100% correct. I s

This seems to presuppose a good deal of functional programming background. Not a criticism, just a note to anyone thinking of spending an hour with it.

Are there really that many people on NH that can understand this? I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm legitimately interested. It seems like this class of knowledge is highly specialized, yet I see posts like these high up on NH freq

Could you explain your reference to the "knife throwing scene in the Starship Troopers adaptation..." I am familiar with the scene, but I don't understand why you are bringing it up.

I auditioned at a number of schools and prima vista was the only thing. At a few of the auditions they would interrupt you if it appeared that you knew the piece and give you something else. Honestly rather annoying. Even though I entered t

There is also SAWStudio, which was one of the first mulitrack audio softwares for pc. It is till actively updated and maintained by one guy. I know of a number of commercial facilities still using 20+ year old versions of it.

It's possible that the person being recommended has lax settings. Connections are a two way street. Facebook can assume that if he has connections to you, then you may have a connection to them. Nothing nefarious is necessary.
