C++11 is pretty "memory safe". But obviously it allows the programmer go low-level and deal with dangling pointers if he/she wants. After all, the programmer/engineer is supposed to be a professional that can handle thes

I say every language except Logo should be banned. Programmers can't be trusted with memory and all these weird things! Also processors should directly interpret Logo. And operating systems too. And memory access isn't allowed. Me

The human brain doesn't have any problem interpreting non-flat icons, as it doesn't have any problem with real world objects. We didn't have that problem you're saying before the flat design trend. Also icons should be a

Why do you need a citation, if you have two eyes? Just look at iOS or OS X included icons, or Windows 10 icons, or the App Store top 100 apps. Most icons are a flat background and some boring bland logo outline. We are in the dark ages of s

Someone with enough Cocoa knowledge should use it as the basis for an OS X implementation of UIKit. And for other OSes like GNU/Linux using GNUstep. Very interesting stuff, diving into the Frameworks directory in the repo.

Terrible post IMO. I've been using both OS X and GNU/Linux (Arch) for several years (OS X since 2006, several GNU/Linux distros since ~2000), so I think I can weigh in. I'll quote a few interesting parts. > Be customi

Until I see really big and open source projects like WebKit or Clang itself moving to Swift or whatever, anything I read about moving to "better systems languages" is like reading a letter to Santa Claus. I doubt C++ is going anyw

Yep. A lot of people here have trouble discerning between their _own_ personal experience and the needs of the rest of the world. I don't even use Windows, but I know plenty of people using it, and I don't see them either spending

Yes, having a deprecated currency and therefore deprecate the savings of everyone, not having money to import enough oil, food or even paper for everyone, and nobody lending money to you, sounds like a great plan.

Well, the UNIX case is not a bug, it's by design. A directory is a list of files, so you remove a file by removing it from that list, the directory. The permissions of the file itself are for access/modifying of the contents of
