The problem is not necessarily slow init, but some pipelines are just long and complex. If you have a problem in your deployment script, for example, you might need to wait a long time to test and fix it.

I have exactly the same issue. BTW that seems to be a recurrent issue with Salas products, I often like something but can't transition to giving paid plans due terrible pricing models.

How so? Docker is fundamentally about OS Level namespaces and isolation, not about more abstraction.

It actually makes your workflow more powerful as you can package it in a container and other devs can start using it in no time.

That`s how we do it in my company: - Clone project - Build container - Develop If you're in a polyglot shop there are HUGE productivity gains in not needing to setup your environment manually, or worse, risk that vital information abou

Not sure about OSX, but in Windows 10 + WSL 2 Docker development can be made faster by cloning code directly to a volume.

I'm a Cloud Developer / Sysadmin and I've heard some bad stuff regarding GCP's support from my peers. Not considering it anytime soon.

I tried Polar 1.X but unfortunately I couldn't make it work on Windows. Might try again in the future. Sticking with Calibre for now.

Happy Nomad + Consul + Terraform user here. Thanks a lot for the great products, but please give us managed Nomad already. Or even better: a Heroku like app platform. I want to give you money, but I really dislike your companies' enter

That's how I think too. There's a problem in wireless communications called multipath. When a signal is transmitted over the air, the receiver will often not receive the original signal. Instead, it will receive a lot of reflected

If one can give strong proof that everything done in a VM is encrypted, then would it be possible to create a "decentralized cloud provider", in which data center owners agree to a common spec for services?

You're not out of touch, Terraform + Containers + People realizing that building immutable things is much better than managing state pretty much killed Chef and Puppet.

Also agree that's a good thing. AWS has public roadmaps for a few products, it helps me a lot to make decisions as an architect.

I wish One Note allowed markdown blocks, I like how easy you can paste things like pictures and drawings, but it does not work well for stuff like code blocks.

I have mixed feelings about control theory (education). On one hand, the maths are fun, on the other hand: 0 - For simple things PIDs work well, but then you don't need an entire course on Control Theory to learn how PIDs work. 1 - Mos

I've been quite happy with the following pattern: - Encapsulate your business logic in microservices and expose ETL actions with APIs. - Call your microservices using Airflow. That way my Airflow jobs are very lightweight (they only ca
