Is there honestly a market for it? I bet it's too expensive to run it without ads, and I don't think people would pay for social media. I would love a system as good as FB actually is (except their site is quite heavy on a decent

I would like to recommend pipewire over Pulse, it's compatible but actually really good, also ALSA compatible

I'd say Windows 10 VS NixOS unstable, Windows is more stable, has better functioning drivers. I still use NixOS to host a Windows VM because I like the userspace more, but the "WiNdOwS iS L3Ss StAbLe" meme doesn't hold v

Outlook has a PWA, but the thick client is still here and will be for awhile to keep legacy plugin infrastructure running.

In a smart webserver this could mean not a whole lot more than a memcpy, and between you and the CDN it probably won't be too high latency. One would have to version the SQLite DB by version to avoid corruption by cache invalidation.

Extra cars on the road? I use transport services so that I don't have to bring my own car,but since they're pricier per mile I'm more likely to use them along with public transport. Less cars on the road.

While I think the NPC part was funny, I really do agree that one should not mess with someone's income. If anyone records this I hope they blur the face (and any timekeeping devices) and change the voice to keep the worker safe.

It would be nice if NAT64 was embraced everywhere, I love typing IP addresses because I'm lazy, but we need IPv6 right now. There are still too many rough edges going V6 only though, like if I set my own DNS servers, will they resolve

As a Swede reading OT comments on HN I can ensure you that deprecate and depreciate are not words I would mix up unless autocorrect gets me. They look similar after all. Ordnance and ordinance I don't even know the difference between t

To be honest, I'm doing it because I like the idea of owning my own machine, the flexibility of a VM and because I want to learn more about Nix & Linux. Trouble is, now that my Nix setup is good for everyday use (Not yet developmen

The thing with proxmox is that it's quite open, you could manage ZFS snapshots outside of the proxmox system if you want, I haven't tried this specific with proxmox, I run NixOS with ZFS root and libvirt for managing the guests (v

I honestly have no idea, I would get another SSD and give it a shot, if it works its really quite great. Not with ZFS on mobile though, go btrfs.

I would probably run proxmox if I was you and kit your device with extra peripheral cards that you pass through to the VM, with ZFS you can snapshot your vm volumes and proxmox has builtin support to do full backups and either store on your
