To clarify for casual readers who might not dig into that, it’s not that Fullstaq is refusing to contribute or that they are commercial. They say : “There will be no paid version. Fullstaq Ruby is fully open source. It is also intended to

Thanks for spotting that. I'm a little confused then, later in the article it says "The team estimates that a system with a roughly 1-square-meter solar collecting area could meet the daily drinking water needs of one person."

This device "could" produce 1.5 gallons per day, per square metre of solar collecting area. The researchers estimate a system suitable for a family might be built for $100, so double or triple that after profits etc. I assume tha

!!!true is equal to false in JS, and in Go (and in any other language I can think of.) In that Go example above, the author is reassigning true and false to be their opposites.

The opt-in feature you mention was for a disagree alert for the plane’s angle of attack sensors. But, MCAS was only ever using a single angle of attack sensor as its source of truth, so if there was a fault in that single sensor, MCAS could

I think the various discussions in these comments show that we don’t realllllly know, just that we understand what forces are there to allow it, and how to generate them.

I didn’t see that it was stated what the surgery was for, and I am unfamiliar with deep brain stimulation. For anyone else in the same boat, for the author, it is a method of managing the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. A fascinating read.

Not disagreeing with you at all - it is true. But for most people, whether or not you went to the toilet before starting your ride, or had that bit of cake at the cafe stop, has a bigger impact than the additional grams on the tyres.

I am definitely slower - 4.5mph or so - on my 42mm gravel bike on road than I am on my 32mm road bike. But my road bike has slick tyres and the gravel bike’s tyres are more knobbly, and I run the gravel bike’s tyres at much lower pressure.
