Bit of a plug but I just started working on a drizzle-esque ORM[1] for Python a few days ago and it seems somewhat appropriate for this thread. Curious whether anyone thinks this is a worthwhile effort and/or a good starting point synt

Layman understanding: Because as a function of hardware and electricity costs, a “cloud” GPU will be many times more efficient per output token. You aren’t loading/offloading models and don’t have any parts of the GPU waiting for input

If building a foundation model [1] isn’t “AI” then I’m not sure what is. [1] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foundation_model

Does Plandex have an equivalent to sub-agents/swarm or whatever you want to call it? I’ve found getting CC to farm out to subagents to be the only way to keep context under control, but would love to bring in a different model as anoth

Do you feed the LLM additional context for the commit message, or it is just summarising what’s in the commit? In the latter case, what’s the point? The reader can just get _their_ LLM to do a better job. In the former case… I’m interested

I’m just saying it’s likely they aren’t using them. But clearly you should if you want LLMs to do anything useful.

It’s BigQuery, so it likely won’t have any of these.

Haha that colour scale on the area variance page makes it a bit hard to see whether nearby H3 hexagons are very different in size...? I've never really investigated, but my baseless assumption was that nearby hexagons (at a high zoom l

Can you give some examples of when this might be better to use than H3? The ones that seem obvious: - You need very high resolution. H3 is also 64 bit I think, but it seems like A5 highest resolution is about 4 orders of magnitude higher. -

The docs here [0] do a decent job explaining it. You create an environment, restrict it to the main branch, add your secret to it and then tie your deploy workflow to it. If someone runs that workflow against another branch it will run but

Your prod deployment should require access to some secrets that are only available to workflows running against main.

I'm always curious about latency for all these newdb offerings like PlanetScale/Neon/Supabase. It seems like they don't emphasise strongly enough _make sure you colocate your server in the same cloud/az/region&

That’s kind of my point. That’s the interesting stuff (the fact that Macedonia at some point nominally controlled Kyrgyzstan is much less interesting imo) but it’s much too complex (and unrecorded) to convey in a satisfying way.

There's a great big coffee table version of this [1]. As always though, I wish there were a way to show not just which "nation" ostensibly controlled an area, but what _people_ were actually there: what languages, cultures an

It should be implicit whenever you use a compound interest calculator that you’re interested in today-dollars, not future-dollars. So any interest rate you estimate should already have inflation factored in.

I tend to agree with you but for problem like this one: > That you can just do `as unknown as T` is an endless source of pain You should be using strict typingcheck/linting rules somewhere in your pipeline to make these illegal (or

I’ve been working on a thing [1] to make monorepo (“workspace”) builds easier, works well with Rye/uv. Doesn’t do anything during dev, just removes the need for hacks and scripts at build-time. Would be curious if anyone thinks this i

Just did some playing around and workspace support has definitely evolved from Rye [0] but there isn't yet (afaict) any mechanism that supports building workspace packages with their "internal" dependencies. [1] https:/

Love that you’ve kept the workspace support from Rye. Is there any support for workspace _builds_? That is, resolving the graph of interdependencies between packages to build a wheel/Dockerfile/whatever? Fwiw I’m building a thing

Thanks for this, hadn’t thought of this in terms of Hi/Lo. The similarity is limited though because there isn’t any sequence of Hi values…? AWS also a great example! But I wonder if they’re storing them as fixed 128bit and getting the

But marshmallow doesn’t do any of the (compile-time) typing stuff. If you don’t care about types and just want ser/de that’s great, but I think it’s clearly on topic here to care about types.

Yeah and in practise most people will probably be using Pydantic anyway. Just wanted to point out it's not strictly necessary. :)
