Speaking specifically about Webamp, it is a manual reimplementation in JavaScript. But we did use Wasm as a tool for the music visualizer: https://jordaneldredge.com/blog/speeding-up-winamps-music-vi...

Tweet author here (not op). I'll repost here: The Winamp Skin Museum is powered by a sqlite3 database containing 1.2gb of metadata about 86,000 Winamp skins. It's all exposed in this explorable GraphQL endpoint https://

For anyone wanting to dip back into the nostalgia of Winamp and Milkdrop without installing any software, I made https://webamp.org for that exact purpose. It can render real Milkdrop presets and real classic winamp skins direct

Author of the Skin Museum here. The Internet Archive search API supports JSONP, so you should (in theory) be able to use that to avoid the need for a CORs proxy.

Thanks for pointing that out. I just added it a few weeks ago. I wonder if it’s not visually obvious enough.

Setting up Webamp with the visualizer is sadly not any easier. If you’re still interested, come join our Discord https://Webamp.org/chat and we can help you figure it out. This example would be a good start: https:/&#

Yes, it's already its own project and the developer who built it helped integrate it into Webamp. https://github.com/jberg/butterchurn If you want to visualize audio coming from the browser (Spotify etc) check out

Safari does not currently support WebGL2, which is the blocker. They support it behind and flag, and it seems to work there, but until they enable it by default, Butterchurn will not work on Safari.
