Fair enough. A policy of stricter enforcement of tax laws sounds like a better plan than stimulus to me. Maybe they should start there instead.

I think the real pseudoscientific idea is that debt-financed stimulus is the cure all for any economic ill. The argument that Greece needs to get further into debt to solve it's debt crisis seems insane to me. At this point how much good co

Shut out of international bond markets, Greece had little choice but to begin bringing its public finances into line or face a catastrophic default. Financing wasn’t available to sustain prior spending levels. I'm confused. If Greece coul

The creator of the word meritocracy created it to parody how people think the world is mostly just. Curious no? It would be if it were true. The satire you're referring to, used the word as a way to criticize how the British government of

Once again we see members of the social justice community promoting "privilege" as the metric for which all achievements should be judged. Developed an amazing search technology? "Well, they're two straight white males... big deal". Revolu

Privilege is essentially a shaming tactic. It's proponents believe that they can create a reverse social hierarchy by convincing those supposedly at the top (straight while males) that every aspect of their lives benefits from a social adva

I love how someone always hauls out that set of speech codes every time there's any discussion of race or gender in a forum, as if there's a "correct way" to participate in these discussions. You're not our proctor. If you want to let that

If someone is consciously aware they are not performing at their potential and continue to do so, I find it hard to lay the blame at the feet of stereotype threat. No? It sounds like they're either misjudging their potential or just being l

It is impossible to forget, because the environment and people around me reproduce them, mostly entirely unintentionally. Even just the lack of women is a subtle, ever-present reminder that I am doing something weird and kind of awkward.

It's not obvious at all unless you're talking about a diversity of programming backgrounds in which case I agree. C++ doesn't work differently when it's used by a black or female programmer. Same goes for programming perspectives in general

Why? If I'm able to get quality answers what advantage does racial/sex "diversity" in and of itself bring to the table. Should I feel extra good about getting a quality answer from a black female programmer over a white male one? If so why?
