Your calculation assumes that entrepreneurs and people who inherited their wealth are disjoint sets. Not so: many rich entrepreneurs got their start in life and fortune by inheriting a successful company.

The same problem exists for any monotonically increasing key, and the same solution can be used. Sequential ids for events, whatever. The timestamp was just an admittedly not very wise reuse of a not very good example.

I thought what was bad was monotonically increasing keys, not values. The solution, assuming for instance that you are indexing by timestamp, and your timestamp is a string: index by timestamp[::-1] (reverse the string). Solved, next proble

I just did a search for an error message in a piece of software. The one result from Google was my own pastebinned traceback from five hours earlier. Google indexes random pastebins faster than I can forget I posted them. This still cracks

Is it immoral to open a pizza restaurant in your city after travelling to Italy/New York/Buenos Aires/anywhere else? At least until we have good automatic translation, human languages are the new locations. If nobody else is serving your lo

How exactly does distributing MySQL as part of your application make your application GPL as well? It's not a retorical question, can you please suggest a case? Unless you outright fork MySQL to make your own database, you can run and distr

When you feel you really need a home router, you will have a Biesse Rover you can use to make the parts for your project. That's a real luxury! The reason I posted the Mantis and not the one from buildyourcnc.com is that the Mantis is stude

The Samsung Galaxy S would be exactly that phone if it weren't for the bugs that make it lag badly. Root it and install Froyo, though, and it is a beauty. I don't know how true the rumours of a Samsung-made Nexus are, but I wouldn't be surp

I would think it's the opposite: for a small-to-medium shop it makes all kinds of sense to concentrate on your core (design, animation, client development) and just rent "rendering as a service". a) If you have a small headcount, a dedicate

Thanks a lot! This is a great guide. One more question, if I may: I am considering a small hardware business (so far I am in the process of building the prototype for my own use). My project has to fit a wide assortment of differently-shape

Your "swing performers" theory also applies to teaching. In an online course I used to teach I found there were roughly three types of students: - People who already knew the subject and/or were capable self-learners, and who only needed me
